Random BSOD's - probably caused by kaspersky

    Hi

A while ago I started getting these blue screens, I had not installed any new programs at that time when it started, it is completely random.

I tried to read a bit about this before posting here, so here are some information that might help (or might not):

    - it happens even when the laptop is still cool (just started) .. so its probably not a temperature related issue.
    - I got this "bluescreen view" program, where it somehow shows what drive is causing the problem, it seems like kaspersky pure is involved in the action!! Although I have the same kaspersky since i dont know when, maybe 2011 or something, and i didnt change it, update it, or anything. But for some reason it started to make problems now.
    - I read somewhere that one of the ways to fix the problem is to physically disconnect the memory and some drives and I dont know what, and then reconnect them again, I dont know for what reason. And that got me thinking, if bluescreens could be a hardware problem, then maybe this will help: I have a cooling pad that is constantly connected to my laptop, and my laptop has been sitting on it for more than a year now. And every now and then when I lift the laptop, I see some dust and lint and all kinds of dirty things, but I never clean it .. furthermore, I had the battery removed because it's dead and I read somewhere that if the battery is completely dead and there is no hope of it being alive again, it should be removed from the laptop, so I did, and I was wondering if the fans of the cooling pad were blowing dirt into my laptop, which might somehow be a cause to these bluescreens.

anyways, I know I dont take any kind of care with my computer, and I know its really old, but for me i dont need it to do a lot, I just want to be able to do simple work without it restarting randomly causing me to lose my work. Also, I do not have a windows CD, so re-installing windows is not an option for me, I'd rather buy a new laptop, however, I really dont want to buy a new one because this one is doing just fine.

    So, any help??
    Thanks

Oh, it's worth mentioning that I ran disk check (through safe mode and restart and all that) and memory diagnostic tool, and none of them showed that I have any kind of errors.

Its probably worth mentioning as well that my laptop runs perfectly in safe mode, and I once used safe mode for a whole day with all kinds of things, without a single BSOD. And honestly I would love to keep running it in safe mode if sound could work, because I really dont need all the other functions of windows that much, just need internet and sound!!

It was on the laptop when I bought it, however, I didnt buy my laptop from toshiba, I bought it from a little computers store ... lets just say that if there is something wrong with the laptop that little store is not responsible. So, What is wrong with my windows?

It seemed like a non genuine copy to me.

Well anyway, please carry out these steps.

Reduce items at start-up: Startup Programs - Change

Perform a clean boot: Troubleshoot Application Conflicts by Performing a Clean Startup

Run a System file check (SFC): SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

Run Disk Check on your Hard Drive(s): Disk Check

Scan with Kaspersky TDSSKiller:Anti-rootkit utility TDSSKiller

ESET online scanner: Free Online Virus Scanner | ESET

Well .. that seems like a lot of work to do (and I'm very lazy) .. and I did half of these things anyways before you asked me to .. and I didnt want to do them again. Plus I didnt want to do all the trial and error thing with the start up programs .. I actually wanted a quick and easy solution .. not a treatment process ..

So I thought: Since kaspersky was involved in all the bsod's that i was getting .. what if i get rid of it??

    And I simply removed kaspersky!

I'm using Avast now .. its free .. its light .. its good enough .. it gets the job done

And guess what, since I removed kaspersky (about 3 months ago) .. I've never had a bsod .. and I didnt change anything in my system .. I kept everything as it is .. and just changed the antivirus .. and my computer is running perfectly.
