Unfortunately not, it's a few years old.

Is there anything I can do?

Not really , If the HDD keeps randomly not getting detected it's most likely the ports fault and since it's a notebook not much you can do about it.
There is also the possibility of the HDD not being in the best of shapes but these types of problems are usually not due to the HDD itself.
