    BSODs and random lockups

Been getting BSODs and lockups at random past few months, usually only once a day at max, though today I've locked up twice and figured time to try and get to the bottom of it. It seems like this happened after a driver update for my graphic card a few months ago (v320 or something like that, honestly can't remember for sure) and would just get black screens whenever tried to play Just Cause 2 and rolled driver back in order to be able to play the game. And ever since then have been getting the BSODs/lockups. Have tried different versions of nvidia drivers trying to fix this issue to no avail, clean installing every time. Not very tech savvy so figured this best place to go to get any help if possible.

    Hi Neo42.

Seeing a lot of drivers as failing, I will want to see two things at first.

One, as it is not very likely to fail so many of drivers at once, test your RAM modules for possible errors.
How to Test and Diagnose RAM Issues with Memtest86+
Run memtest for at least 8 passes, preferably overnight.
If it start showing errors/red lines, stop testing. A single error is enough to determine that something is going bad there.

Two, it becomes a must to see your system setup; but the MSINFO32.nfo file that you uploaded is corrupt. Upload your MSINFO32.nfo file once again.

    1. Click on the start button
    2. Type "msinfo32" (without quotes) in the search bar of the start menu, click the resulting link. It will open the System Information window.
    3. File>Save. In the "File Name" filed, put "MSINFO32" (without Quote), give the save location to desktop, and click the "save" button.
    4. Give the time for processing, it will save a .nfo file on your desktop.
    5. Zip it, and upload it following the instruction.

Then we will be able to proceed with the troubleshooting.

Memtest went through 8 passes with 0 errors/red lines.

Here's my msinfo32.nfo again, but when I try to open it myself it says it's corrupt/incompatible... Can look at it in a text editor, though I'm sure that's lot less efficient.

As memtest is not showing any error, and as I noticed a lot of failing drivers earlier, better we go for a Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 which is supposed to solve all the driver issues in a single go, hopefully.

Did a clean reinstall and just now laptop locked up on me. Here's a more up to date zip of SF Diagnostic Tool info but no BSOD/minidump to go with it yet so don't know how much help it'll be.

    You got some ASUS bloatware.

And the crash occurs just after the heat event. Report us the heat of the computer after a couple of hours of your normal usage. Upload a screenshot of the summery tab of Speccy. Alternatively, you can publish a Speccy snapshot too: Speccy - Publish Snapshot of your System Specs .

Also do it: Windows Update - Reset.

    Let us know the results.

Removed ATK Package. My bad on installing it, thought I'd need the fn key to be functional but after some thought I realize I have no need of this key. Plus, if it is causing errors, then it should go.

    Seatools passed without errors.

XHCI drivers were installed, updated them to most recent from your link.

Reset Windows Update history as requested.

Here's a screenshot of Speccy summary after 2 hours of my normal usage. CPU and Graphics temps would also get into the 90s as well while I'm playing FF14 actively. With FF14 in background temps tend to be steady in the 70s.

Update: Used some condensed air to clear out vents and now running only in the 60s for temps after a hour of use, much better. Don't know why I didn't think of that sooner.

    OMG!

    Attachment 299536

Dismantle the computer. Clean everything inside. Clean all the air vents and fan grills so that it can blow the hot air out efficiently. Laptops are by nature congested and not very heat efficient.

While re-seating, apply new thermal paste to the CPU.

As it is a laptop, you may not be personally able to do it. In that case ask a technician to do it for for you. But it is to be done on an emergency basis. Your computer is already a frying pan.

Also get a cooling pad for the laptop.

No need to post any more crash dumps before it is done. The computer must to crash in such a high temp.

Let us see another speccy screenshot when all are done.

Do it as early as possible. Use the computer the least possible before it is done. No gameplay at all.
