Repeated Bluescreens

Hi,

I was previously on Windows XP on an old custom build system, and all has been running fine very rare bluescreen issues. Likely once a month.

After recently upgrading the custom build to a new motherboard, power supply replacement, and extra internal disks added, and installed Windows 7 Professional x 64, I started experiencing bluescreen. The custom build was taken to shop that did the upgrade, and after few days testing their end really pushing the system hard, no bluescreen was noted. Only thing they noted was the old existing power supply looks not powerful enough for my motherboard. So I upgraded the final hardware component by getting a newer power supply the shop recommended would work best with the later motherboard.

Custom build was given back to me, and unfortunately I keep experiencing bluescreen again. PC is only being left on, with nothing being done on it, other than regular backups that takes place in real time, from an internal disk to an external disk.

I eventually decided to disable the daily backup suspecting that perhaps this could be the issue. But unfortunately I still experience the bluescreen

So here I am to try and get experts advice on why this keeps happening.

The TP link adapter driver is failing.

Uninstall Norton and all Symentec products using Norton Removal tool. Use Microsoft Security Essentials as your antivirus with windows inbuilt firewall, and free MBAM as the on demand scanner.
Download, install and update those, and then run full system scans with both of them, one by one.

Also, for a safety reason, test your RAM modules for possible errors.
How to Test and Diagnose RAM Issues with Memtest86+
Run memtest for at least 8 passes, preferably overnight.

If it start showing errors/red lines, stop testing. A single error is enough to determine that something is going bad there.

Mine is TL-WN781ND V2. Have downloaded and installed latest and the file athrx.sys latest is dated 29-Jul-2011 now.

Some issues are with Norton, too.

I've discussed with Norton and they've advised I re-install the software using their Norton Remove and Reinstall Tool. I've done this at this stage.

Also, for a safety reason, test your RAM modules for possible errors.

With this I've created a usb bootable using the installation file but I can't get usb to boot and run memtest tool. 4 x files was installed on usb stick.

Sad to say despite the changes that was done, two more bluescreens have occurred. Should files be sent again to see the cause now ?

New zip file attached. 3 x bluescreens occurred actually. With the TP link adapter, it's straight out of the box from shop when pc was upgraded last month. Norton am a bit surprised as I run it on other PCs with no issues. Anyway be curious to know what the 3 x recent ones are about. Thanks for your help on this matter :)

Because it is still failing and contributing to the BSOD.

I've uninstalled TP link entirely and will take it back to computer shop for a refund soon. Not sure if they give other models. Else will shop for another one elsewhere. Any recommended ones for this? In meantime am using the on board NIC using cable to wireless router

I followed the site and downloaded the file. However when I run the Setup.exe file, I get this message

"Error: This computer does not meet the minimum requirements for installing the software"

I did give correct motherboard details.

The Intel USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller Driver from Program and Features is dated installed on 19/11/2013.

Uninstall All nvidia items in Control Panel > Programs and features

Uninstalled what was listed above. While Graphics Driver was being uninstalled, I lost display to a blackscreen for a while, and could not do see anything on computer. Waited for 10 mins and decided to force shutdown computer from power switch and powered back on. I resume from log in. Graphics Driver was uninstalled. I tried uninstalling PhysX and got a message

"NVIDIA Uninstaller cannot continue. Found New Hardware is open. Close the wizard to continue installation or wait until it is finished."

Windows was downloading the Video Controller (VGA Compactible). I clicked on Skip obtaining driver software from Windows Update but it still continuing installing a driver software without downloading. It asked for a restart, which I did. This re-installed

NVIDIA 3D Vision Driver 331.58
NVIDIA Ge Force Experience 1.6.1.2
NVIDIA Graphics Driver 331.58
NVIDIA PhysX System Software 9.13.0725

Am not using chipset drivers. It's a GE Force card I had that I kept after upgrading motherboard.

Now follow Drivers - Clean Left over Files after Uninstalling

I've downloaded "Display Driver Uninstaller Download version 9.9.2"

I restarted and went in Safe Mode with Networking and uninstalled

NVIDIA 3D Vision Driver 331.58
NVIDIA Ge Force Experience 1.6.1.2Then ran the Display Driver Uninstallerand used the Clean and Restart option with options
Remove PhysX
Save log files in startup path

PC was restarted and now from normal mode,

Download 314.22 WHQL. While installing, Select Custom (Advanced) install. In the next page, follow this settings:

Did this one next. I had no HD Driver option. After installation and restart, I confirm

No need to harass newbies. A simple please will do :) Norton 360 was uninstalled completely this time as it's re-current causing crashes on this PC.

This was installed and I used MBAM Pro instead over free one.

Need to see why I can't use memset86+ going. Any advice there ?

I can't update USB 3.0 either.

Will see what happens next while I leave computer on with no work being done on this PC.

Will test the usb stick on another computer to see if it boots. 4 x files was installed on stick

I will not say "please" to you, coz what I am saying to you is for you; I will not be benefited anyhow if you do it. And, if you dont take the suggestions, that is the harassment to me; not to you. :)

I found the existence of norton in your latest crash dump. If it is uninstalled properly, it should not be there anyhow.

For MBAM, it would be good if you stayed with the free version. There is reason that I suggested for the free one only.

I see that the USB3 driver I suggested earlier is not appropriate for your 8 series chip. Better you go to GIGABYTE - Motherboard - Socket 1150 - GA-Z87-HD3 (rev. 1.x), and get the Intel USB 3.0 Driver from there.

Also try to update to the F6 BIOS. There must be some good reason that the F4 version (your one) is removed from the listing, despite of it not being old. Use @BIOS to update the BIOS; it is available under utilities. (Dont get any other utilities, BTW.)

Memtest86+ is not working? Not an usual situation. What happens if you boot from the bootable CD or USB?

Finally, lack of driver is a very common for TP Link devices. TP Link sells the adapters, but the drivers are actually developed by Atheros. So sometimes those are not properly updated. It is always better to choose a brand who develop their drivers themselves, like Qualicomm Atheros.
