    Hi Arc,

My Roll Back Driver button is grayed out.

That means you have clean installed the driver. Good practice.

Download an earlier version of AMD display driver. Save it on your desktop. Then disconnect internet (to stop the way to auto-configure the driver at restart). Uninstall the display driver following How-To Uninstall AMD Catalyst Drivers From A Windows Based System . When uninstallation is complete, follow Drivers - Clean Left over Files after Uninstalling to make it sure that the driver is uninstalled in total.

Now restart the computer, with network disconnected. Installed the earlier version already downloaded. Restart and connect back to network.

Let us know if it is still BSODing or not. Specially with the same bugcheck code.

    Thanks Arc,

I have tried 13.9 and the 13.11 drivers in the past week or so and was still getting the same BSOD. I just saw a post on this page and I am going to give this a try to see if it works. I will report back my findings.

Display Driver Stopped Responding and Has Recov... | AMD Developer Forums

    Hurrah: SOLVED !!!!
    Ok, the trick is:
    1) open your vista registry editor
    2) go to the key : HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\GraphicsDrivers\
    3) highlight it then right click on this key
    4) Add DWORD TdrDelay
    5) Set value of TdrDelay to the number of seconds you allow your GPU to run with no feedback to the system (ie Timeout watchdog..)
personally I've set this value to 8 seconds (from the default 2s) so that it leaves plenty of time to the GPU to perform overcomplicated computing intensive kernel without having Vista considering a fault and hence "recovering the device"
That all folks, and should help some of you experiencing computer hung ups, or blue screens under vista.

I doubt that the fix will be continuing. But if it does, very good. :)

If it does not, my suggestion would be to change the GPU.

So after changing the registry key above I got another BSOD relating to atikmdag.sys.

I have decided to re-format my machine and see if that does the trick. Will keep updating this thread as part of my progress.

Arc - As much as I would love to buy a new GPU, I just cannot afford one right now. So I need to explore other options :)

Unfortunately the only other option is to use the onboard graphics

So, I wiped my machine last night and re-installed everything from fresh again. I allowed windows update to download the drivers for my gpu which I believe was 13.9 version. Loaded up FIFA and within 2 minutes I BSOD

Is there nothing else you can recommend or is my only option left to buy a new GPU?

    Thanks,
    Gerge
