Are you experiencing high disk usage/sluggish system?

Have you updated Windows recently?

Sometimes the system is sluggish, but not constantly no. When it is, chrome processes seem to be the culprit and closing them seems to restore speed to the system.

Disk usage seems low on task manager view.

RAM is holding at 2.4 / 3.9 GB.

Am I supposed to go change that value in my registry now?

I installed 8.1 (with difficulty) a couple of months ago now. Have run updates whenever they've been available. The frequent BSODs have occured ever since.

I had to run the sfc a few times (it kept saying could not perform the request at various percentages, but went through on the 5th attempt.

It said it had found errors but could not fix them and pointed me to a CBS log. I've attached this, along with 2 more BSOD minidumps.

Interesting CBS log!
Code:

is the only one of the three errors there that I recognise...

Please download and save the CheckSUR tool from http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947821
(you'll need to look in the details for Windows 7, downloading from the Microsoft Download Center)

Run it - The tool can take anywhere from 5 mins to a couple of hours to run (or 'Install') depending on how much it has to do, and may exit silently - it may appear to freeze for most of that time, but be patient.
The result is logged in the C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.log file - and an archive …\checksur.persist.log file

Then zip the CheckSUR.log and upload it to your reply

Wait one! this is Windows 8.1!

Sorry - CheckSUR doesn't work with 8/8.1 - you need to use the DISM commands instead.
Having said that, I'm none too sure whether it would correct a Missing Component Key error such as this.
Colin probably knows more about that than I do?

It was a difficult install. It rolled back the installation at least 4 times before it finally accepted the upgrade from 8 to 8.1.

Also I have no idea what DISM is or how to use it to make a log. :/

I've found a DISM log however and attached that.

I managed to run the DISM repair tool, and it reported as successful. If I don't get any BSOD's for a couple of days I'll mark this solved.
