    BSOD & Scannow Corrupt Files

    Hello to everyone,
I am new here & looking for help with a computer issue. Any help given is greatly appreciated. I'll start from the beginning.
For awhile now but only occasionally I am getting BSOD crashes & then the computer restarts. So today I decided to do some detective work & try to find out/repair what is going wrong. I ran SFC /SCANNOW & it returned a message that some corrupted files could not be repaired. So then I found some help online & ran it several more times. It returned the same message each time. I also did the Windows Update Readiness Tool, & that also did not fix the problem.
I will attach the CBS file & also the SF Diagnostic Tool file. THANK YOU to anyone who helps!

    Welcome to the Forum.

Configure the system to collect small memory dumps following: Dump Files - Configure Windows to Create on BSOD

McAfee is a known cause of BSOD's. Please remove it.
    Code:
    Start Menu\Programs\McAfee	Public:Start Menu\Programs\McAfee	Public
Start Menu\Programs\McAfee Online Backup	Public:Start Menu\Programs\McAfee Online Backup	Public
Use Revo Uninstaller to uninstall stubborn software. Opt for Advance Mode while uninstalling which allows leftover registry removal:Download Revo Uninstaller Freeware - Free and Full Download - Uninstall software, remove programs, solve uninstall problems
Microsoft Security Essentials is recommended from a strict BSOD perspective, compatibility & stability compared to other security software:

Microsoft Security Essentials - Free Antivirus for Windows

    Malwarebytes - Free

Good and Free system security combination.

    Code:
    Start Menu\Programs\Advanced SystemCare 6	Public:Start Menu\Programs\Advanced SystemCare 6	Public
This software is a known cause of BSOD's. The windows 7 operating system does not require these registry cleaning software. They often tune-down rather than tune-up and can wreck the OS beyond repair. Microsoft have improved Windows 7 significantly and it is much better at organising and optimising itself than its predecessors. Check this, this and this thread for evidence. If you feel the need to use a registry cleaning or optimisation software, most of us recommend the use of CCleaner - PC Optimization and Cleaning - Free Download but make sure you back up the registry before making letting ccleaner delete anything. 10 Tips on How to Properly Maintain Your Computer

    BSOD & Snannow

Hello. Thanks so much for your response. Are you posting general information that could apply to anyone? I am looking for specific information on what could be causing the BSOD & information on the Scannow results that I posted, specifically the corrupt manifest it lists.
I am not sure about deleting McAfee unless I know for sure that it is causing problems. It came preinstalled on my computer & I pay to use it. I don't mind uninstalling Advanced System Care, but I don't know if that will do any good because I never use that program anyway. I do use the Ccleaner occasionally.
Is there any way to tell specifically what is causing the BSOD & the Scannow results?
Thank you so much for your help.

I ain't acquainted with the SFC log but I will request a friend to take a look at it.

You may look around at other threads and check if they're general information I'm applying to anyone.
Been doing this for a while and they're possible fixes to your problems.

The SFC details log shows this error - badly, because it's in DOC format...
    Code:
2014-01-15 17:29:18, Info CSI 00000306 [SR] Cannot verify co
mponent files for 814d7b30b85deb058586abcc60ebdfe9, Version = 8.0.7601.18305, pA
     = PROCESSOR_ARCHITECTURE_AMD64 (9), Culture neutral, VersionScope = 1 nonSxS, P
ublicKeyToken = {l:8 b:31bf3856ad364e35}, Type neutral, TypeName neutral, Public
Key neutral, manifest is damaged (TRUE)

Please download and save the CheckSUR tool from http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947821
(you'll need to look in the details for Windows 7, downloading from the Microsoft Download Center)

Run it - The tool can take anywhere from 5 mins to a couple of hours to run (or 'Install') depending on how much it has to do, and may exit silently - it may appear to freeze for most of that time, but be patient.
The result is logged in the C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.log file - and an archive …\checksur.persist.log file

Then zip the CheckSUR.log and upload it to your reply

koolkat77....I am very sorry if you took any offense to my post. You posted a lot of very useful information for which I am very grateful. I am carefully reviewing everything in your post. I just wanted to be sure that McAfee is causing the problem before I deleted it because it came pre-installed on my computer, I pay to use it & it also provides my online backup service. I am very thankful of your time & expertise in helping me with this problem :)

This morning my computer had another crash--BSOD. It was about 5 minutes after startup & the computer was not even being used at that time. All of a sudden it shut down & restarted.
So I ran the SF Tool again & I will post that zip with the name deshae78. I also ran the CheckSUR tool & will upload the result as requested.
Does this possibly mean that Windows Update is causing the problem or is it just being affected by the problem? Is the scannow error related to the BSOD?
Thank you so much to everyone & anyone helping me. It is very much appreciated!

    CheckSUR shows the following problems...

With a bit of luck, I'll be able to post a fix protocol in a few minutes...

    I've uploaded a file - d78aa.zip - to my SkyDrive at Noel's SkyDrive
    Please download and save it.
Right-click on the downloaded file, and select Extract all…
Extract to the default location - which will create a new folder d78aa in the same place.
Open this folder - there should be one folder inside it (Manifests)

Copy the content of the manifests folder (.manifest files) into this folder:

    C:\Windows\Temp\CheckSur\Winsxs\Manifests

Now run the CheckSUR tool again (it may take a while)

Post the new CheckSUR.log file, and the CheckSUR.persist.log file.
