Removing the CMOS battery is really easy, just take it out and leave it for 30 minutes or so, then put it back in.

Yes I would recommend Seatools as it will tell us if your HDD is failing or not (Failing as in hardware). Britton30 and essenbe have good knowledge about these things so trust them when they recommend doing something.

Yey it's not about trusting. Just me speaking/understanding English not so well, combined with not the best knowledge with computers, so better to make sure first before doing something stupid.

Well, downloaded, installed and tried to ran tests with SeaTools.

Tried to run Short Generic, Long Generic and Short Drive Self Tests. But immediately it fails.

Perhaps you just solved your problem, or at least a big part of it.

I also have a problem with running Seatools from DOS or Windows.

Try this and see what your results are.

Try this too, download this: CrystalDiskInfo - Software - Crystal Dew World and open the program and post a snip of it for each drive.

I would trust seatools more than Crystaldiscinfo, coz I have seen it many a times that despite of having the SMART data intact the disc is failing itself.

True Arc, Crystal Disk only read SMART data which isn't too reliable. It only picks up bad or relocated drive sectors, lots of other thing to fail in a drive.

kasotol, did you try Seatools from DOS and in w7 too?

Gary, I've never had trouble with Seatools, except getting it to see the drive. But once it saw the drive, it ran the tests fine. It just seems that if the tests ran and failed, he has at least a part of the answer, if not the whole thing.

I haven't been able to get Seatools to run for a long time, even downloaded it fresh. It got some error, I forget what it said.
