I don't use Firefox very much, so am not sure if that is considered high ram usage. FF used to be very prone to memory leaks. Have a look through this for any possible help

Firefox uses too much memory (RAM) - How to fix | Firefox Help

I see where newer versions returned to the memory leak issue. People report good success with Firemin . This assumes you have a memory issue, your usage does not seem that high (my Opera is currently at 269k, and that is not unusual). High memory usage will usually not result in freezes of crashes unless it was very high, and system memory is low.

236MB RAM use from Firefox is perfectly normal. In fact I run Firefox daily with ~190 tabs open, which takes anywhere from 2GB to 3.5GB of RAM depending on how long it has been since I last started up Firefox. Oftentimes Firefox ends up hitting its 4GB limit of addressable RAM (32-bit process) and freezes, forcing me to kill it via Task Manager and restart it.

However, the mouse-freezing issues you mentioned in the same post as the Firefox RAM thing is certainly not normal.

When I use Firefox it uses about 250MB RAM. So I think your usage is OK. FF released it's latest version yesterday (27.0.1) so I'd try upgrading. Also, just for grins and giggles, have you tried using a different USB port for your mouse? How about a completely different mouse just to rule out a hardware issue?

If your system isn't crashing with IE or Chrome and you're fairly certain that it crashes only (or too often) when you run Firefox.... take a look through these:

    Thanks Slartybart.

After I came to realize my problems were probably and only Firefox related I googled as you do and found suggestions as you have kindly listed above.

I methodically went through each one in turn, and finally got to the last, RESET FIREFOX.

It has been now 3 or 4 days and all seems well. Now I am unsure of the fix here but if I had to nominate one or two they would be the GPU Driver remover software and re reinstallation (of the driver) and the Mozilla Support found here.

Since then, touch wood, and with the installation of Adblock I can say I have had no BSODs :)

Thanks you too, Golden,Britton30, A Guy, King Arthur & Marsmimar for your input & advice; it is appreciated.

    Great news Whiskey 7,

I was going to suggest going directly to RESET, but it's better to run through the simple things first before a full reset.

I'd lean towards the FireFox (FF) reset only because you didn't experience the BSOD unless you were in FF. Still it could have been that FF was accessing a function of your GPU that other apps were not. Anyway, making certain your GPU driver is correct will avert issues in the future.

    Thanks for marking this solved.
