The motherboard should have onboard video you can plug a monitor into.

Do you actually get a post beep with the new card in? Are you connecting the internal 6 pin power connector to it?

The P6T has no speaker on the MB so no beeps.

Yes, everything is connected.


I am having him ship the PC back to me for me to look it over. Hard to diagnose issues over the phone when ive never personally seen this happen.

We had one person that said their monitor would go blank on boot and not come back until they put the computer to sleep and woke it up again. Ten year old monitor replacement fixed their problem.

What type of monitor and connection to it are you using and can you try another monitor?

tried 2 monitors, no go. tried the original monitor on another PC and it worked fine.

As for the PC for this thread, I got the PC today, I am going to swap power supplys.

It turns on, then shuts off (Fans and all) then starts again, but no screen or anything.


Could a PSU cause system freezing though while within windows?

It is a Corsair 750W PSU.

Was brand spanking new too.

Sure. It's the Asus Utilities causing problems. Uninstall it. "AiNap.exe"

Also "ntkrpamp.exe" - from what I can make out, errors seems to be related to memory, superfetch and/or a/v utility like Kaspersky.

Next - "ks.sys"

Ks.sys Patch for Hyper Threading Crashes

Seems a few people saying you could possibly find an alternate copy online and replace. I dunno.

Finally, last one is caused by Firefox and related to win32k.sys. Update Firefox I would say. Remove plugins not really needed. Run in safe mode to test if needed.

Run memtest on this machine.

About OP computer - Anything possible, always. Yes. PSU can get funky and cause things even when appearing to be running well otherwise.

changed out the PSU on the PC for this original thread. I am typing from it right now.


Once the PSU was changed, it booted up fine....only one problem.


It is locking up again while within windows, doing the same thing it did before. The last PSU, it got to the point where it would not post (Post video to monitor at all)

I thought it was fixed, went for walk while it performed windows updates, came back, and locked up. Keyboard was lit up like normal, mouse was lit up, but no response at all on screen. Sat and watched the system clock for over a minute, and no change in time ocurred.

Could the previous PSU have caused a problem on the motherboard?

I also checked the C:\Windows for a minidump folder, none found.


Are you in the US? If so, anyway I could call you tomorrow to go over some of the possible causes? Youve been a tremendous help so far. I appreciate it VERY much.

No, very unlikely the PSU caused a problem on the motherboard. But then again, refer to my last post. "Anything possible, always." I wouldn't be too concerned about this at this point, however.

Sounds like WU could have loaded a driver that was just plain out nasty to the system. It happens. It's happened to me on occasion when I erroneously chose to let it update graphics drivers. Avoid drivers from Windows Update unless all other options have already been exhausted. Any soild tech will tell you that.

There are perhaps easier ways to fix the machine. I'd rather not attempt them. Start from scratch and do a complete clean install by formatting to NTFS, while installing. You could choose quick option. Do not do any Windows Updates at all.

Come back and let us know how this went and we can advise on the next step when things are running well. Perform a system restore point here.
