    You have to disable either of your graphics chips. Either the onboard Intel HD graphics or the nvidia GPU.

    If you want to use the nvidia GPU only, go to nvidia control panel, and set nvidia as the primary GPU. The option should be under 3D settings > Manage 3D settings.

    Code:
    *******************************************************************************
    *                                                                             *

    The crashes are consistently caused by hung/blocked IRP's.

    Arc could be onto something if you've got multiple GFX chipsets running simultaneously over the same PCI bus then I could see the potential for drivers to get screwy. But the minidumps show a slightly different picture. I would start by updating your chipset drivers and BIOS.

    ACPI device object is preventing an IRP from completing. The IRP is for the NVidia device. The owner of the IRP is invalid, but I suspect this is only because we're looking at minidumps. A kernel dump should paint a clearer picture.

    Code:

    well 3rd time lucky i have my computer in safe mode now because i have had it crash on me 3 times now whilst trying to type this. i have looked at trying to disable intel graphics and letting mavida take over but from what i have read online you cannot as this computer was designed to run with both? i was wondering if my explorer or google chrome could be an issue as it seems to crash more whilst online? i have also noticed a couple exclamation marks in the device manager was wondering if this could be an issue? will try upload a capture of what i have seen.

    gman,

    That's a pretty clear sign that you're missing drivers for those devices. You'll want to download and install drivers for your chipset and ethernet device.

    But honestly, the lack of drivers doesn't usually cause problems (because those devices are actually not being used). But, to take this one step at a time, it's probably less time consuming and easier to find the drivers and install them first. After that, if you're still having problems, we'll continue looking through dumps. You're welcome to repost the crash dumps as you continue to get them too.

    Well it will seem we have finally got a result, drivers are now all up to date and have not had a crash yet. i did as you recommended installed all chipset drivers i could find on the Dell website and did a google search for unknown ones and managed to install them. i cannot thank everyone involved who helped, saved me a lot of money not having to take my pc to the hospital. thanks again
