AVG contributes to BSOD's. Please remove it for testing purpose. Use Microsoft Security Essentials.

Recommended from a strict BSOD perspective, compatibility & stability compared to other security software:

Microsoft Security Essentials - Free Antivirus for Windows

Malwarebytes - Free

Good and Free system security combination.

Could you be a little more specific about it?

sorry about that, i assume you talking of the procedures i followed? firstly i removed AVG and its tune up program, installed Microsoft security essentials. i then ran sfc - no issues, ran reduced start up programs - no difference, ran a clean boot - nothing, and then finally ran disc check on hard drive which runs when you restart which i did and once it finished it went to re-start but it would not load windows and just hung on the black screen that comes up just before windows loads so i manually powered down and restarted it then loaded windows and went straight to a BSOD.
i hope this is what you were after.
thanks

Disc Check checks the disc status only. Nothing serious job is done by it.

Does the computer boots in normal mode? If so, upload the SD Diag tool output . If it does not boot in normal mode, try safe mode and do the same.

That was a typo. It will be SF, not SD.

It is the option two of Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Posting Instructions
