Programs say "... has stopped working" when playing games.

    Hello,

Lately I've been suffering from crashes. When playing games like PayDay 2 and League of Legends. The game suddenly crashes and a bunch of running programs show "... Has stopped working". It doesn't crash into a BSOD but the programs won't start again. Except for 1 time I actually got a BSOD(Dump attached), I'm not sure if it has anything to do with the other crashes, but it did occur during playing PayDay 2.

When the crashes started occurring I bought a new hard drive(Needed more space) and installed a clean installation of Windows 7 Home premium 64 bit. This didn't work so I ran MemTest86+ 5+5 passes and no errors. I also tried testing my GPU's one by one, also no result.

I tried using Verifier but the crashes don't result into a BSOD. So haven't got any useful feedback on that part.

I've also tried the repair-install guide, but when clicking upgrade it says I've already got a equal or higher version of windows installed.

I'm kind of clueless on what to do now.

    Thanks in advance,
    Ceees2

    Hi Ceees2.

The issue seems to be a multi-fold one. Some disc errors are reported. So test the HDD.
SeaTools for DOS and Windows - How to Use

    Reseat the sata and power.

If possible, change the SATA cable, and apply it to another unused slot on the motherboard.

Also, some display related issues are visible, too. Uninstall your installed latest version of the display driver.

Then clean up any possible leftover.

Then install version 13.9 WHQL only.

Lately we have seen a lot of issues with the 13.12 WHQL AMD Catalyst.

Plus, as the ataport.sys is shown in the stack, better scan the system for possible virus infection with the following programs only.

    Let us know the results.

    Hello,

I've replaced the SATA cable with a new one, in a SATA slot which hasn't been used before on my motherboard.

Used the SeaTools, didn't give me any errors.

Deinstalled CCC and installed the older version.

Used the anti-rootkit and scanned with Windows Defender Offline tool.

Have played PayDay 2 for a while now and it hasn't crashed yet. So that's looking good.

Thanks for taking the time to look into this. I'll test some more and if it doesn't crash I'll mark it as solved.

Okay, so yesterday I played 3-4 hours straight, normally it would've crashed already, but it didn't. But today it crashed after 15-20 minutes. All programs just show the windows "Has stopped working". But no BSOD, so I haven't got a dump to show. CCC is still version 13.9.

Edit: added the events from the event viewer.

If your specs are correct you have mismatched Video cards. Not a good thing.
Try just using one video card installed.

Been running this setup for over a year now without problems, until now.
Also in this chart it says it's compatible. I don't run them in Crossfire though because I have two screens. And I tested a single GPU already.

    Just for testing.
Remove one video card and continue using your computer as you normally would.
Let us know if you have any other problems including logs if any are produced.
If things go well do the same thing with the other video card.

I did that before I made this topic, or do you mean after applying the fixes? And for the logs, I don't crash into a BSOD. Or do you need other logfiles?

I was under the assumption that you have already completed Arc suggestion.
The reason for this is to see if one of the video cards is going to cause problems and which one if either.
    It's a process of elimination.
If you do get a BSOD then Arc will need the log.

Please let us know what you have and haven't done.
