Yeah that's with the r9290. If I RMA the card the aria they will prob find the same as us and refuse it meaning I have to pay 6.99 return postage and their fee to look at it (good way to deter rma's)

But I will buy the new mobo asap and yeah the PC was fine on the 6450. Guess I maybe try the rma

Well, if you still have the GPUz log you made, send it to them. The Voltage on the card stayed pretty constant, meaning the PSU was putting out the proper voltage (ATX specs are +/- 5% which is 12.6 - 11.4V) Yet your core clock dropped from 100% to 1% and all of your VDDC voltages dropped dramatically. basically, your card just quit working. Now, that could be because the game crashed instead of the card, so the card went back to pretty much Idle state. If you are using another App, like MSI Afterburner or sapphire Trixx, I believe they have such a feature in them. You may try one of those logging programs to see if you get the same results. I honestly don't know if the board could be responsible for that or not, but the board you chose is a much better board with a more recent chipset than the one you have. I'm not real familiar with AMD boards, but unless I'm mistaken, your current board has a 765/710 chipset and the Sabertooth 990FX has a 990/950 Chipset which is a lot newer and made for your CPU.

yeah mine has the 760g (cpu-z shows 780g) sabertooth runs 990, never had any issues with it when i had fx8350 and r9290x running on it. and is really good for thermal and oc. i dont have the log anymore, but im sure i can find it again on one of these pages. i guess i could print off and complie all the tests we have done.

OK, finely sent the gpu back to aria for rma.. could be quite expensive though if they cant find anything wrong with it.. £14.99 to ship recorded, then if deemed working £6.99 +vat (x by item value bracket) then a £17+vat charge for looking at the item.. and my original postage isnt refunded.

decided to get new rma today after i got SHED load of artifacts on screen (just browsing net)the it froze up with said artifacts and the old friend of mine popped up; "the display driver has stopped working"

also i spent £60 on a new case yesterday the zalman z11. got 7 fans running in it posative L airflow (had this case before when i was oc my old 8350 clc build, that also had an r9 290 reference and was super cool) so can rule out case thermal for sure.

next also... 5 days ago i tried to update to the 14.6 drivers, but after installing, upon restart it would just boot loop on the starting windows.. only way to fix was restore point that i manually made prior to updating. any ideas?

last also (i promise) pc is working fine now without the gpu installed, watching films ect with no restarts.. pity i sold that old hd6450 yesterday otherwise i could have gamed a little.. ahh well back to good old cfw psp i guess lol

Did you discuss it with them before the RMA? Did you send them the logs to look at? I assume you can do that. But, as I see it, the options was a bad board, bad card, bad driver install or bad PSU. Most of that was covered in the tests, except for the card or overheating. Overheating can cause artifacts and such too. But, I am sure you were keeping a watch on temps, after all we went through. It's not easy sitting on this side of the screen as we can't see or hear what is happening. But, from what I hear you telling us, I think you made the right decision. Of course, it's you who are paying the price, if I am wrong.

naaa the decision was mine, im just thankful for your help and continued support in the problem.

i did ring Aria prior to getting the new rma, and they passed me to the Tech team. I explained what the problem was and all the tests we have run through. even the tech said there was not much else we could test. I offered to send over logs, PDF's and screen shots of every test done and their outcome, but he said it wouldn't be necessary as they will have to run all tests again.

yeah i always watch my temps, i have core temp gadget and speed fan. i also regually check temps in bios every week just to see if everything looking normal. also what with the new case and running all those fans the case was uber cool, and according to ccc, (literally 10secs after the driver stopped working and recovered) i checked GPU temps and was only as 42c

we ruled out HDD, RAM, CPU, so only leaves mobo or GPU, seeing as its working fine on the old 6450, and on the built in mobo, it really leads me to thinking it can only be the GPU.

It does seem that way. We ran almost every test that could be done, and it just seemed to me that it almost had to be the card. Please keep us advised of how it comes out. I look forward to hearing from you.

If their techs use only Furmark they aren't very intelligent. Furmark is not a comprehensive GPU test, the factory should have their own full set of tests. If Aria is the seller I seriously doubt they know much about testing anything.

Did you direct them to this thread and point out a much older GPU works fine? They just don't want to be responsible.

the guy on the phone didn't give a monkeys, he said they did lots of technical tests... and i replied yes i saw, 35 min on furmark... he paused and replied yes hats the tech tests... i said no, thats one test, and not a complete test, did you test it during gaming, or run a gpu-z log whilst testing, did you check over the gpu board or test the voltages. i told him that 35min of furmark is not testing my card, and said about the other gpu working just fine..

he also said i couldn't talk directly to the rma team

he said he will forward my concern over to tech team and will put it in for another test... woooo! another 35min furmak test.. and now i have to pay for them to look at it and get it back

i ran furmak for over 2 hours on that card and nothing.. yet i start a game and the pc bsod with error 124 which is thermal or hardware failure.. i feel like i should be annoyed but i don't know if i can be as it might not be the card... it just seems funny i get no bsod now the cards not in my pc
