BSOD 0x100000b8 Caused by ntoskrnl.exe

Hi everybody, I’ve been trying to troubleshoot this BSOD on behalf of a friend. She says she is getting this BSOD when running audio applications (Finale, Pro Tools) in particular. I tried updating graphics and audio device drivers but it hasn’t helped. I grabbed this dump file but don’t have any experience reading them, BlueScreenView suggested ntoskrnl.exe crashed. I was hoping someone might be able to shed some light on the crashes with this.

It’s an ASUS Core i7 @ 2.3GHz. The RAM has been replaced since the issues began and it’s still Blue Screening. I can get more dumps or more system info if it would help!

*Edit: I'm having her run the Windows Seven Forums Diagnostic Tool now, I'll update when she gets back to me. (sorry)

Update your USB 3.0 extensible driver from the Intel Download center.

Code:
Unable to load image \SystemRoot\system32\DRIVERS\iusb3xhc.sys, Win32 error 0n2
*** WARNING: Unable to verify timestamp for iusb3xhc.sys
*** ERROR: Module load completed but symbols could not be loaded for iusb3xhc.sys
It's outdated so an update should fix the issue.

Code:
fffff880`10125000 fffff880`101e9000 iusb3xhc T (no symbols)
    Loaded symbol image file: iusb3xhc.sys
    Image path: \SystemRoot\system32\DRIVERS\iusb3xhc.sys
    Image name: iusb3xhc.sys
    Timestamp: Fri Jan 27 09:35:28 2012 (4F226FE0)
    CheckSum: 000C193B
    ImageSize: 000C4000
    Translations: 0000.04b0 0000.04e4 0409.04b0 0409.04e4
However we do need all the system information, ask her to run the DM Log Collector from here.

Then upload the folder created on her desktop.

Thanks! Hopefully I'll be able to run the DM Log and the Win 7 forum tool over there in person tomorrow and update you all.

Well, she went off for the long weekend before I could run those utilities, so I'm just gonna mark this as solved for now and open a new thread if updating the USB 3 drivers doesn't work. That way I can be sure to have run the DM Log and Win7 forum tool.

Honestly the USB3 driver does seems like a likely culprit; she said the crashes seem to mostly occur when the Avid MBox (USB Device) is plugged in. Thanks for checking out that log Thedoctor44

No leave the thread as unsolved, there is no need to create a new one.
Just post back here
