BSOD - Win 8.1 Primarily When Waking from Hibernation

    Lenovo G500 Laptop
    Win 8.1 w/ all updates
    i5 CPU, 4G RAM, 1TB HD

Have rebuilt once from Bare HD & have run the MS memory diagnostic (10 passes). Laptop was purchased in Sept 2013.

Problem started with one of the first MS Updates about a six months ago and despite a full re-build the problem persists with crashes once every few days to several times a day. (It crashed while writing this message).

Error message is usually IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL or power state failure with a scattering of other failure messages. None of which are very helpful!

I have attached the dump zip.

Any suggestions would be greatly depreciated!

You need to install the service pack appropriate using Windows Update.
I've never used Windows 8 so I don't know the Service Pack but I believe it's still 1.

    Code:
    Version	6.3.9600 Build 9600
    Code:
*** WARNING: Unable to verify timestamp for iaStorA.sys
*** ERROR: Module load completed but symbols could not be loaded for iaStorA.sys
    Probably caused by : iaStorA.sys ( iaStorA+6710a )
Intel Rapid Storage Technology causes a lot of issues.

    1. Right click on "my computer" icon and click "manage" on the context menu.
    2. It will open the "computer management" window.
    3. Select "Device Manager" in the left pane, It will list all the existing devices up.
    4. Expand "Disc Drives" by clicking on the triangle in front of it.
    5. Select one item under it, right click, uninstall.
    6. Continue the process for all items under "Disc Drives"
    7. Now restart the computer. At restart, windows will auto configure the appropriate system driver, msahci.sys.

    Code:
    FAILURE_BUCKET_ID: 0x9F_3_POWER_DOWN_iaStorA_IMAGE_pci.sys
    Code:
    >[ 16, 2] 0 e1 ffffe00057b96050 00000000 fffff802cfd3b2d8-ffffe0005b5d6410 Success Error Cancel pending
*** WARNING: Unable to verify timestamp for iaStorA.sys
*** ERROR: Module load completed but symbols could not be loaded for iaStorA.sys
     \Driver\iaStorA	nt!PopRequestCompletion
Intel Rapid Storage Technology also appears to be the the cause behind your 0x9F bugchecks which happens when you wake form hibernation.

Is holding an IRP for too long which blocks other IRPs from being processed.

Thanks for the quick response - my first reaction was that I had all the updates installed. Just to check I went to Windows Update. Nothing available.

But when I checked further I see 8.1 Update is NOT installed. After a bit of checking I tried a manual install using DISM. It worked through the install until the end when it said the install failed and rolled back the changes. BTW this is a legal copy so there shouldn't be any issues in that regard.

Any suggestions on forcing the 8.1 Update? Will the logs give the cause?

    Thanks!

PS - I disabled the Intel Rapid Storage Technology service as well.

We will see if that makes a difference!

    Thanks again

    Code:
    Version	6.3.9600 Build 9600
Mine is fully updated and shows the same as the OP.

They already have Windows 8.1 installed,

    Code:
    Host Name: LENOVO-LAPTOP
    OS Name: Microsoft Windows 8.1
    OS Version: 6.3.9600 N/A Build 9600
    OS Manufacturer: Microsoft Corporation
    OS Configuration: Standalone Workstation
    OS Build Type: Multiprocessor Free
As for Win 8.1 update 1 (KB2919355) and it's prerequisite (KB2919442) they both show as installed already in the list of installed hotfixes.

@snowman58, can you provide the KB#'s of the updates that failed please.
