Are mini dump files overwritten or archived with each successive BSOD?

I was wondering whether mini dump files are archived sequentially or does each one make way for the next?

As long as you don't run any cleaning programs or utilities they just accumulate, the first six digits of the name is the date it was created.

So while they are archived, the first two numbers in the name are the month so they are stored in numerical order.

Small dumps are accumulated but I'm not sure how much space is allocated. I suspect they will eventually overlay. I've seen systems with as many as twenty dumps. The kernel dumps will overlay because they are HUGE. I suspect the allocated space would be around Memory Size plus one meg. That's generally what a kernel dump includes.

Forgot to mention: Much depends on what your settings are.
