Yes, those are the files I needed.

Can I ask why you tried a repair install instead of the clean install you asked about in your other thread here?

Can I Do A Clean Install of Windows 7 From Recovery Disks?

From what I see in your dump files I think a clean install is your best option.

The tutorial that was linked also has instructions on downloading an installer as well as all the other steps needed to complete it.

If you are unsure about anything just ask back so further instructions can be clarified.

I did a repair installation only because I thought it would be easier than doing the clean install.
I will attempt the clean install, however, I am confused about using the download tool to create the DVD.

Maybe this tutorial will help lessen the confusion,

    Windows 7 USB/DVD Download Tool

If not, can you point out what part is confusing and we can walk you through it.

I have HP upgrade disks (from Vista).
So if I have an ISO file, how do I locate it?

I see what you mean, the ISO file can be downloaded here,

Windows 7 Direct Download Links, Official Disk Images from Digital River

You want to scroll down a bit to the English versions and select the X17-58997.iso

I understand you have a disc already but if you use the suggested ISO file, it will be a quicker install because it is an updated installer compared to your upgrade disc.

As long as you have your 25 digit product key there should be no problems.

So to answer your question, to locate the ISO you need to download it first then when you run that tool you just point it to the ISO you downloaded.

Is this the same X17-58997 that I downloaded for the repair install?

If you have already downloaded it, yes that would be the same.

I should have asked that, I just thought you may have used the disc you mentioned in post #1.

So you just point that tool to the ISO you already downloaded.

I did the clean install, however the computer has already crashed twice.
So, now what else can I do?
