    BSOD launching Skype

I just received a Presario CQ57 with Windows 7 Ultimate from a friend. Whenever I click on Skype to launch it, I get a BSOD. I uninstalled Skype, then reinstalled; still the same problem.

The relevant files are attached. Thanks for your assistance.

    Welcome.

Please update these older drivers. Links are included to assist in looking up the source of the drivers. If unable to find an update, please remove (un-install) the program responsible for that driver. DO NOT manually delete/rename the driver as it may make the system unbootable!:-

Broadcom 802.11g Network Adapter - Dell Wireless 1390 WLAN Mini-Card

To perform a clean install of a driver, follow this tutorial:

Use Revo Uninstaller to uninstall stubborn software. Opt for Advance Mode while uninstalling which allows you to remove leftover registry:-

    Reduce items at start-up:

    Perform a clean boot:

Run the System File Checker that scans the of all protected Windows 7 system files and replaces incorrect corrupted, changed/modified, or damaged versions with the correct versions if possible:

Run Disk Check on your hard disk for file system errors and bad sectors on it:

    Keep is posted.

By the way, I also ran the chkdsk and the sfc /scannow tests; computer detected no issues.

I see there's a whole forum dedicated to drivers - let me tell you what I've done so far. I'm pretty sure everything installed properly, except I'll have to keep looking for a webcam driver, and I'm not sure about that Dell WLAN thing.

    Broadcom 802.11g Network Adapter
-downloaded from the HP support site

    Dell Wireless 1390 WLAN Mini-Card
Downloaded from the Dell support site (here)
When I ran that .exe file, it gave me "all files were successfully unzipped" (after prompting me earlier in the process to create a new folder to unzip them to)

ATI Video Driver (remove the Catalyst Control Center and only install the Display Driver)
Downloaded from the ADM support site; removed Catalyst Control Center per instructions.

    Synaptic Touch Pad Driver
    Downloaded from HP support site

    HP High Definition(HD) Webcam Firmware)
Tried the file from the HP support site, received: this program didn't install correctly.
Tried to reinstall using "recommended settings"; "access is denied" flashes up in a box and then installer goes away.

    Realtek:
    Downloaded from Realtek support site.

Sorry for the huge delay. I'm traveling through rural Haiti and things like Internet and electricity are luxuries...both for me and for the person I actually left this computer with. Anyway, according to him everything is working fine. Thanks so much for your help.
