    BSOD once. Computer extremely slow startup, shutdown, in general


    Hi I own an HP desktop with Windows 7 and as of today it's been behaving very very strangely. It was running fine this morning but then according to my brother it froze completely while he was browsing the internet, which prompted him to shut it down by holding down the power button. Since then, it has been incredibly slow to startup and shutdown, and has also been slow when actually logged it. It failed to connect to the internet multiple times, the Norton antivirus was listed as disabled, and windows frequently stopped responding. Additionally, it keeps installing updates. At one point I looked over and it was installing 18000 updates. As of right now I can't even get in as it says preparing to configure windows and has said that for the last 20 minutes. I tried to open it in safe mode once however when I did the keyboard stopped working. Repeated attempts to open safe mode failed as for some reason holding fown the F8 key didnt do anything. At one point it was shutting down and BSOD came up. It also distorts the welcome to windows sound when it starts up, repeating the first note for 20 seconds. Is it just a massive virus or something? Any ideas on what to do?

    I've also tried system repair which entailed system restore A couple of times and that hasnt worked either.

    1. Download the DM Log Collector application to your desktop by clicking the link below

    DM Log Collector.exe

    2. Run it by double-clicking the icon on your desktop, and follow the prompts.
    3. Locate the .ZIP file that is created on your desktop, and upload it here in your next reply.

    I can't login right now. It says configuring and has said that for the last 40 minutes. It says not to turn off, what should I do?

    It actually says preparing to configure. It failed to configure updates on our last startup and said reverting changes before shutting down.

    Please Navigate to this site if you can and download Malwarebytes Chamelion https://www.malwarebytes.org/downloads/#tools it should install Malwarebytes on your computer. During the set up process please uncheck the trial real time antivirus and just use it as a manual scan. As soon as it is downloaded and set up, please do a full scan and remove anything it finds.

    On another computer please run and install this on a USB Flash drive or a CD and put it on your computer and boot from the installation you chose. Windows Defender Offline
