Sounds good Funnycat.
any work around or settings to change in utorrent to stop this? or shall I just switch torrent programs for now??
Hi nikon858 and Welcome to the forum...
Would you please start a new thread that is specific to your problem... Your current question is to vague to address ... Please take time to fill out your system specs, as they're some members who wont try to help you without them...
Thanks....
sure, I'll do that now...I figured I'd just post in this thread since my problems are identical to the OP's
I've had a problem for a while with the 64bit Ultimate edition. It would lock up and you could move the mouse pointer, but nothing else worked and a full reset was the only way out.
I tried all of the fixes that have been suggested on various forums, including disabling reporting back to Microsoft developers, but it persisted.
I seem to have finally tamed it by disabling screen blanking. I've left the screen saver running, but no other shutdowns of anything and it's now stabilised. It's no big deal, as I have a KVM switch and I simply switch to another PC which can blank its screen.
The mobo is an Asus P5QC running a Quad Core processor with 8Gb ram and an ATI graphics card with a fully Windows 7 driver downloaded from the AMD site.

Alan.
I have exactly the same problem. I've found that if left for long enough, usually it will come back. Sometimes its a full 15 minutes but it will unfreeze. I hate to have to turn off screen blanking but I also hate having to force restart on a regular basis. Anyone have any ideas on this?
I've never waited long enough to see if it would come back...I know the computer is till alive though, since my crystalfontz lcd that runs as a service continues to respond....If it happens again I'll try leaving it to see if it comes back.
I never left it long enough to find out. I was always in too much of a panic to use it.I have exactly the same problem. I've found that if left for long enough, usually it will come back. It does appear to be something to do with screen blank/idling.

Alan.
