1 Minute (not responding) problem

Hello guys,

I have just installed the 64-bit version of Windows 7 Enterprise. I did have the same problem when using the RC. It is installed on a Acer TravelMate 6592G with 4 GB ram, rest of the spec's: Acer TravelMate 6592G-934G25Mn - Specs | MyCE

The notebook was not made to run Windows 7, but that does not meen it should randomly stop responding?

Here is the problem:
When i run any media, all programs "pause" or stop repsonding. I can use the mouse and open folders and watch websites that is already open. This happens pretty often too. The strange thing about this problem is that after waiting 1 minute everything runs smooth again. Thats not 100% true, because the mediafile i was playing (film/serie/music) now jump to the place it should have been if it was playing normaly.

EX:
Runtime on the video stops at 10:47 when every program "stop responding". After one minute the video starts again at 11:47 and all the other programs starts responding as they should.

I have searched for a long time now, to find a solution to this problem. But as you might noticed without any luck. I did not have this problem in Vista 64 bit.

Hope someone can help me figure out how to solve the problem or maybe i have to send a note about it to MS? :P

Cheers¨
VicViper

My guess would be that some error events occur during the times everything stops. Have a look into the Event Viewer (Start > right click on "Computer" > Manage > Event Viewer). Maybe you can find error events that coincide with the stalls (the events are time stamped). Then you can investigate further. To expand the different categories you have to right click on it - then you'll see.

Windows 7 did not create any error event that could match. But thanks for reminding about the log.

But i found out what the problem is:
Since i run a notebook you have different settings for power saving. When running Balanced or Power saver i get this problem. When it runs on High Performance i do not get it.

So i guess im stuck with this problem...

Make sure the BIOS and hardware-related drivers (NIC, chipset, video...) are all up to date.

I have the same problem when in Balanced or Power Saver plan. My OS is Windows 7 Professional 32 bit build 7600, and notebook - Acer Aspire 5920G.
I believe that this problem is occuring because I don't have all of the Acer 5920G drivers installed. There is no driver support for Windows 7 for my Intel chipset Mobile PM965 Express, Intel AHCI/SATA (Matrix Storage) and Intel TurboMemory. I checked Intel and Acer official websites and didn't find the drivers I need.
