BSOD error 3B, cause unknown

A few weeks ago I started getting BSOD errors frequently, sometimes multiple times a day. I ran memtest then and the RAM came up faulty. I replaced it about 10 days ago and my system was running fine, but yesterday I got another BSOD.

I've looked into the dump file a bit, but it seems equally vague as the ones I had before. I ran memtest for about 3 hours this morning and it came up clean -- I can run it for longer if needed.

I've also done a SFC scan already and it came up with a problem, but I can't tell if this is the cause of the BSOD or not. The log is attached.

Any help would be appreciated.

Welcome to the forums aftereight,

Perform a Clean boot:Reduce items at start-up. No software except anti-virus is required plus doing this improves the time for logging into windows:Please uninstall Daemon Tools. It uses a driver called sptd.sys which is known to cause BSODs in Windows 7.
Code:
DAEMON Tools Lite	"d:\daemon tools lite\dtlite.exe" -autorun	ccc-PC\ccc	HKU\S-1-5-21-3231288221-2416204549-1553329886-1000\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
Uninstall the software using Add/Remove Programs. Reboot the system. Once the program is uninstalled, run sptd.sys uninstaller to remove the driver from your system.

As an alternative, many people recommend the use of Total Mounter or Magic ISO

Run the System File Checker that scans the of all protected Windows 7 system files and replaces incorrect corrupted, changed/modified, or damaged versions with the correct versions if possible:
  • Click on the
  • Type CMD on Search
  • Left click and Run as Administrator
  • Type SFC /scannow
Full tutorial here:Make scans with the following:

Kaspersky TDSSKillerESET online scanner: Install all updates including Service Pack One:Remove Avast! and SuperAntiSpyware. Replace it with Microsoft Security Essentials.

Microsoft Security Essentials is recommended from a strict BSOD perspective, compatibility & stability
compared to other antivirus or internet security software. It is free and lightweight:-
warning   Warning
Do not start the free trial of Malware Bytes; remember to deselect that option when prompted.

Post back with results.

I've attached the log of the SFC scan, it shows the same issues as the one I attached in the original post.

sptd.sys was not installed on my system.

Kaspersky TDSSKiller came back clean.

ESET scan found some unwanted applications but that's about it (I forgot to save the log, sorry).

I've installed Microsoft Security Essentials and all Microsoft important updates for Windows.
