Hi Everyone. It's annoying old me again. My computer BSOD'd again. I've long ago uninstalled Glary Utilities, which was the problem last time. Can someone check what's up with my current problem(s)? Thanks a bunch!

Unfortunately the crash dump is not readable.

It does not show even the bugcheck code.

We have no other way but waiting for another one. If that happens, try to take a camera snap of the BSOD screen, too; lest the next dump is also incompletely recorded.

Okay, my computer crashed again at startup. Also, I'm not sure if this means anything, but my monitor, at startup or whenever awakening from sleep, is starting to go in and out on sleep mode (it clicks on and off like a dozen times) before it goes on again. Not sure if this is a driver problem or monitor problem. Anyways, here's the file (I've also included a camera shot of my screen at the moment of BSOD, like you've asked). Thanks a ton!

But teh possibility of getting an update is very mere. Because Ralink is merger with MediaTek and MediaTek does not have all the driver updates.

You may search for an appropriate one in Downloads - MediaTek .... but if dont found any, or if teh driver does not change the situation, better you get a new network adapter.

Thanks for the info! Question, though: How do I know which one to download with all the part numbers? My card is Ralink 802.11n Wireless Lan Card, but I don't see it anywhere on the Mediatek lists (most of whose products seem to start with a RT or an MT). Is the "part number" on my card on the actual card? How do I find the "part number"? Thanks.

I am sorry at this point .... usually the uploaded files let us know the hardware precisely, but your network card did not provide any more info.

The vendor may help you about it, IMHO.

Thanks. I will probably take your advice and get a new LAN card.

One last question. When I ran WhoCrashed, it showed that not only was netr28x.sys responsible (which is, like you've told me, my LAN card driver), but the following for hal.dll. Should I be worried about this hal.dll? Thanks.

Mate, the first thing is that WhoCrashed is not a very efficient tool. It cannot determine the background reason with a particular level of certainty.

The final thing is, HAL is as said there, Hardware Abstraction Layer. It is a hardware-software combination which includes a lot of things but if "HAL" is said, it does not explain anything precisely. The network adapter and the software/driver thereto is also included in the scope of HAL.

So, at this point you need not to be worried about HAL, but observe how the computer runs with another adapter.

Hi everyone. I followed your advice and got a new LAN card, and I don't have any more crashes from that particular driver. However, my computer crashed again this morning so I was wondering if either of you can help me out here. This problem is one stubborn *******. Thanks!
