    Code:
Name [00000019] 802.11n Wireless LAN Card
    Driver c:\windows\system32\drivers\netr28x.sys (3.2.7.0, 1.73 MB (1,813,056 bytes), 2/10/2015 7:27 AM)
    Code:
        Image name: netr28x.sys
        Timestamp: Mon Nov 14 21:22:43 2011 (4EC1394B)
Why will you replace the old lan card with a new one which is exactly identical to the old one?

Wait, I'm a little confused here.

    1) Did my lan card driver cause the BSOD?

    2) What do you mean "exactly identical" to the old one? They're both PCI-E WLAN 802.11n cards, true, but they're completely different models from completely different companies. Do you mean I need to buy one that is not a PCI-E WLAN 802.11n card?

    Thanks.

Archie, do the latest crash dump files point directly to the card as causing the crashes?

What I would do meanwhile to see if the wireless LAN card continues to be at fault: plug in by ethernet cable and disable the Wireless LAN card in Device Manager.

Run for long enough to see if the crashes reoccur.

Then enable the wireless LAN card but do not connect to network, Enable hardware auto-updating via Windows Update (Steps 3 and 6) then Check for Updates, install all Important and Optional Updates which may include newer drivers or patches needed to make hardware work correctly. Check back after reboot.

Once all Updates are installed, unplug ethernet and connect to your Network to test the Wireless LAN card, if there are crashes check the card's Support Downloads webpage for the latest driver to try it. If this fails contact the card's tech support which is included with any hardware for the first year to have them troubleshoot the card with you for possible RMA with another model.

Arc, Greg if I can help in any way I would be happy to. But, there is nobody better at reading dump files than Arc. If Arc needs me I am subscribed.

Thanks, Greg. I'll try out the suggestions re the ethernet cable. Again, I'm trying to understand why Arc would think it's the same card when they're different models from different manufacturers, though it appears the drivers might be the same (though they have different time stamps).

    One's:

    Image name: netr28x.sys Timestamp: Mon Nov 14 21:22:43 2011 (4EC1394B)

While the other (the old malfunctioning one) is:

    Image name: netr28x.sys Timestamp: Tue Jun 29 06:30:33 2010 (4C2945B1)

Hey, it's all Greek to me so I appreciate you guys helping me out. Truly.

What is the make/model of the PCIe Wireless card?

May I make a suggestion? Go to C:/Windows/System32/Drivers and rename all netr28x.sys drivers to netr28x.sys.OLD Then remove the wireless card from your system, connect with the Ethernet and see if you have any better results. Renaming the drivers will stop Windows from loading them on startup and removing the Wireless card will stop any confusion on the part of Windows.

One more attempt to rectify the wifi driver issue ..... this one by Mediatek (the parent of Ralink after merger).
    Which indicates to this page: PCIe (RT2790/ RT309X/ RT35X2/ RT539X/ RT3290/ MT7630) - MediaTek

Get this driver and apply it. It should rectify the network issues there.

When one issue is minimized, then the remaining issues will appear as more clear.

I will thank Greg and Steve a great lot, who made me convinced that I should not dump this thread and should continue to assist you.

Okay, a lot of good advice. Not sure which to take first. First, here is the product I purchased:

    Amazon.com: StarTech.com PCI Express Wireless N Adapter - 300 Mbps PCIe 802.11 b/g/n Network Adapter Card, 2T2R 2.2 dBi - PCIe Wireless Desktop Card: Computers & Accessories

Second, I took essenbe's advice and unplugged this card from the computer and renamed netr28x.sys netr28x.sys.OLD. Right now, my computer is connected to the net solely via an ethernet cable.

So . . . now I'm just waiting to see whether the computer's going to crash or not, right? If it doesn't crash, when should I replug the card back in and implement's Arc's and Greg's suggestions regarding the driver? Thanks. (BTW, the computer crashed in spurts; sometimes, it'll go for weeks with no problems then within a couple of days, two or three crashes.)

Once again, thanks a ton for your help.

Nice! Also get the driver I suggested in the previous post downloaded. If it works with the wlan card, it will be all good.

Sound plan. But I will wishfully expect that there will not be a further BSOD.

That is the nature of BSODs, they are unpredictable in most of the cases.
