Sorry to be obtuse, but I can't find AMD Overdrive anywhere - it is maybe in the registry?
Also, when you said to update the AMD chipset, did you mean from the AMD site, or from the site of my computer's motherboard? Apparently that's an H-RS880-uATX (Aloe) - whatever that means!
TIA
Paul M.
You have two instances of Overdrive installed:
- AODDriver4.01 \??\c:\program files\ati technologies\ati.ace\fuel\amd64\aoddriver2.sys
- AODDriver4.1 \??\c:\program files\ati technologies\ati.ace\fuel\amd64\aoddriver2.sys
About the Chipset, get it from wherever you can. Remember that you are using the RAID driver with RAIDXpert enabled.
Many thanks, Arc and Hexagon12! Machine seems to be perking along nicely (fingers crossed)!
This has been a real education!

Hi guys! I thought this problem was fixed but it has started showing up again. You did tell me that I had a number of old drivers, but my machine worked fine for several weeks, then the BSODs started showing up again. Perhaps you can tell me which are the highest priority drivers to fix - or if there is another problem! TIA
My first suggestion for you in post #2 was to uninstall GFI.Code:fffff880`0319fa18 fffff880`05618670Unable to load image \SystemRoot\system32\DRIVERS\SBFWIM.sys, Win32 error 0n2 *** WARNING: Unable to verify timestamp for SBFWIM.sys *** ERROR: Module load completed but symbols could not be loaded for SBFWIM.sys SBFWIM+0x18670
If you cannot uninstall it, do a clean reinstall.
As long as it will be present in your system, you will continue to experience BSODs.
Sorry to be obtuse - I did uninstall Languard - can't see any GFI stuff in Control Panel/Programs and Features, or in C:\Program Files or C:\Program Files (x86)... Maybe something still in my registry?
I used to use something called Spybot Search and Destroy, which I think was bought up by GFI, and I found I still had that in one of the Program Files directories, so I have deleted that. Could that have been causing problems? It wasn't running, though! BTW msconfig listed it as being in HKCU\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run but regedit doesn't show it at that location.
As you can tell, I'm slightly out of my depth! Help would be appreciated!
The fact is, an element of the GFI product (that you are saying that you have uninstalled) is causing the BSODs.
Not any registry entry, but a driver.SBFWIM.sys.
The driver is of Sunbelt Firewall. Later they merged with GFI ... used as GFI Software Firewall NDIS IM Filter Miniport.
A proper uninstallation should not leave this driver untouched. May be you have deleted the program file?
Anyway, it will be extremely difficult to find the leftovers system wide. Better you perform a clean reinstall. Follow it: Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7
Thanks a million, Arc! I don't think I deleted some files without uninstalling - that's not something I would normally do! Anyway, if all else fails, I will tackle the Clean Reinstall - looks like a huge job, though - for me, although probably not for you guys! My machine is an HP - do you think trying the Minimized OS Recovery would help?
TIA
Paul
