Just an FYI here, the latest drivers are not always the best.
Additionally, on laptop gpu drivers the first place to check for drivers should be the laptop support page.
Notebooks & Ultrabooks - N55SL - ASUS
Their latest driver for your notebook is from 2012, while not a recent driver it may be the best for your laptop.
OEM's usually offer a modified driver specifically for their products.
This is also pointed out on Nvidias download notes,
While it does show your GPU in the list of supported products, you seem to still have problems. As part of the NVIDIA Notebook Driver Program, this is a reference driver that can be installed on supported NVIDIA notebook GPUs. However, please note that your notebook original equipment manufacturer (OEM) provides certified drivers for your specific notebook on their website. NVIDIA recommends that you check with your notebook OEM about recommended software updates for your notebook. OEMs may not provide technical support for issues that arise from the use of this driver.
You can try a few different things,
1.) Test the driver from ASUS.
2.) Try some earlier versions from Nvidia.
3.) Uninstall your current driver using this method below,
1. Go to Device Manager and expand Display Adapters.
2. Right click on your adapter and choose properties.
3. Select the Driver tab and choose uninstall.
4. When finished, reboot the computer and let Windows install the available WHQL driver.
