I wish we lived closer. I would like some of that hardware you have. I've been thinking of a Haswell-E build.

Ha! You don't want my hardware near you in a 1000 mile radius, because that hardware ain't workin'... it actually seems infectuous, or why would two new mainboards and DIMM sets not work out of the box? I believe the chance that I'm now sitting on three defective mainboards and three sets of DIMMs should be slim - this whole nightmare is starting to become expensive.

Ok, I'll do another clean install today or on Sunday - maybe I obtain a new record.

I doubt it. I do them all the time. I test a lot of things on my computer and end up messing things up quite often.

So, under one hour with core drivers only (Intel chipset, Intel management engine, Intel ethernet, AMD graphics, Realtek audio). While installing the chipset drivers, I obtained BSOD 0x124. While installing the ethernet drivers, I obtained a sudden reboot. While instaling audio driver, I obtained BSOD 0x1e. All three incidents occurred before I could enable minidumps to be written. Now, I have the usual 162 Windows updates to be downloaded and installed. I install them piecemeal - otherwise the updating process always hangs at 73 of 162 updates. While installing updates piecemeal, I obtained a sudden reboot and a hanging update. Commencing, I obtain a BSOD 0x1e.

This is going nowhere, even with new components.

Other than the CPU what have you not replaced? PSU? Hard drive? Anything else?

The CPU always passes Intel's IPDT. The SSD always passes Samsung Magician. The PSU I have not yet tested for lack of a PSU testing device.

I could buy new CPUs, SSDs and PSUs, but that is expensive and - how can I know which causes the BSODs? I already have enough "spare parts" that I don't really need and that - now having been used - nobody will buy off me to recuperate some of the cost.

Should I get on from here with buying a new CPU?

Aside - I just wonder why our i7 MacBook Pros (running Windows 7 via bootcamp) just keep running and running and updating automatically, hassle-free, year after year. They are the best Windows 7 machines I ever owned...

If your problem is the CPU you should be able to RMA it to Intel. But, You've bought new everything else. It seems the CPU or PSU is the problem. I would first, pull the CPU out and closely inspect the socket for bent CPU pins.

When putting the CPU in the new mainboards, I checked the mainboard for bent pins. They were all ok. I also always earth myself when doing electronics work.

I order a new CPU and see how that works out.

RMA that one. New one's are too expensive. It has a 3 year warranty.

If you are going to buy a new one, why not try a 4930K? I'm pretty sure it will run on that board, will be an upgrade and is about the same price.
