Need Desperate help-Windows 7 Crashes constantly

Hello

I desperatly need all your help as i have ran out of ideas and fully novice in using Windows 7.

I did an upgrade from Windows Vista Home Premium(It came pre-installed with my Sony VAIO machine) to windows 7 32bit Build 6801.It initially ran smoothly for few hours, but then since last 5 hours-It suddely crashes with a black screen and then re-starts automatically.
This happens roughly about 20-30 minutes i use the machine and it crashes.
I did a bit of reasearch trying to check the Event viewer Logs but couldnt get anything noticeably wrong there.

Well, according to SONY website,we are to run certain installter.exe files to install everything. But the main problem that I am facing is,when i am
trying to run a installer.exe file it fails with error "Could not initialize installation. File size expected=203125, size returned=206264".

I again searched on Google and found that its related to "Executing WiseUpdt.exe." which is causing the installation to fail.
So,i followed the steps given here

https://kb.altiris.com/display/1n/ar...328&r=0.504162

STEPS ARE:-
The WiseUpdt.exe has been re-signed and the merge module containing the WiseUpdt.exe has been re-compiled. Perform the following to obtain the updated files:
Download the Wise Installation Studio 7.0 SP1 - WiseUpdate.zip which is attached to this article.
Extract the contents of the file (WiseUpdt.exe and WiseUpdt.msm) to <Path to Wise>\Windows Installer Editor\WiseUpdt. The default installation location of the Wise directory is C:\Program Files\Altiris\Wise.
If you already have a .WSI with WiseUpdate configured, re-compile your .WSI to pull in the new WiseUpdt.msm merge module that is used by the WiseUpdate page.

But,i was not able to successfully finish the above steps also as I am getting an error "Couldnot run because not associated with any application"

So,i very much request you all for your help in solving this crashes as I am not able to work at all.Nor can do any troubleshooting also in Windows 7.

If fI remember correctly. all BETA versions of Windows 7 are in the NO LONGER WORK MODE. so unless you PATCHED it to work until Mar 2010.
It should FAIL..

Really it is time to UPGRADE to a FULL 7600 version. or Windows 7.
