First computer froze, now blue screen

Hi, about 2 weeks ago my computer starting freezing. I opened a new tab in Chrome or copied (Ctrl-C) something and it froze. I did some research and decided to uninstall Bitdefender and install MSE. That did not help. Now I cannot even login anymore. It just goes to the login screen and freezes. I see my username and the cursor blinks in the password field and that's it. Then when I shut it down (by pushing the button on the desktop) I get the blue screen. Luckily I can still remote desktop to it.

I have downloaded and ran dm log collector.exe and I have attached the ZIP file to this thread.

I'm hoping someone could help me.

Dragonchaser, Could you please remote into it, and if possible, please post screenshots or Device Management, also a screenshot of disk management Disk Management - Post a Screen Capture Image. This will tell you how to post screenshots here.
Screenshots and Files - Upload and Post in Seven Forums

Also, Please open a elevated command prompt ( click start, type cmd in the search box, right click on the cmd entry and select run as administrator) in the black box that opens, copy/paste sfc /scannow. If you decide to type it, notice the space between the sfc and the /. It is a system file checker which will scan your system files and attempt to correct any missing or corrupt files. What we want are the results to say windows found no integrity violations. If it says files were found but could not be repaired, close the box, reboot and run it again, after opening the administrative command prompt. You may have to reboot and run it three times for it to repair all system files. If it can't repair them after 3 reboots, let us know.

Also, please open an elevated command prompt, as described above, and in the box type diskpart and press enter. Wait for the window to reply diskpart, then type list disk and press enter. Please post a screenshot of the results. It should look similar to this

Please fill out your System Specs

       Information
Your System Specs will help us to help you, and doing it in this manner will make them available to all helpers in every post and keep us from hunting for them. We ask that you fill them out in as much detail as possible including Desktop or Laptop, Model number if it is an OEM computer and all components with the Manufacturer and Model number if possible.

If you will go to your last post and click the 'System Specs' in the bottom left of the post, you will find a link to update your system specs. Please fill those out in as much detail as possible, making sure to click save at the bottom of the page. If you would like to know what we would like, you can click 'My System Specs' at the bottom left of this post to see mine. If you do not know what your components are, this will help you accomplish this task. System Info - See Your System Specs

I have something to add. This is what I saw in Event Viewer. Does this help?

Windows detected your registry file is still in use by other applications or services. The file will be unloaded now. The applications or services that hold your registry file may not function properly afterwards.

Please make sure your Firmware on your Adata SSD is updated to the latest version. Next,

    Please Run Memtest86+

       Information
Please download from this site only http://www.memtest.org/ in the middle of the page are the Download links, you can download the ISO.zip or the Auto USB Flash Drive installer.zip

Extract the Zip file. If you chose the ISO image, burn it to a CD using Windows Disk Image Burner or any Image burner you may have. If you downloaded the Auto USB installer, extract it, insert your USB 2.0 Flash Drive and take note of the drive letter. Run the installer, select the Flash Drive Letter, check the format box and press next. It will install memtest86+ to a flash drive. You can use either V4.20 or V5.01. Boot from your selected media. If you use V5.01 it will tell you to press certain buttons at the start, please press no buttons. The test will begin on it's own and continue to run until you stop it. It needs to run for 8 complete passes or until you receive an error. If you receive an error, stop the test. Even 1 error is a fail. Each pass tests a different part of the ram and each of the 10 tests in each pass tests something different. It takes a minimum of 8 passes to completely test the ram, more passes are better. It is quite a long test and will take several hours depending on how much ram you have. Due to the time length it is best to run overnight. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask

If everything passes, I would like you to run startup repair. First, I would disconnect 1 of the wires from each disk except the one that has Windows 7 installed on it. It may need to be run 3 times with attempted reboots in between each attempt. If you are using your installation DVD on the either 2nd or 3rd screen, there will be a repair my computer in the lower left corner. Click that. It will try, if it cant, use the select other options. See option 2 in this tutorial System Recovery Options

    Hi essenbe,

Once again thank you so much for your help.

I tried to upgrade the firmware on my Adata SSD. I tried twice but it didn't work. I followed the instructions but the firmware was and still is 3.4.3.

Anyway, I did some further research and then I found a post on the Windows Driver Foundation - User-mode Driver Framework service. It was set to Manual. I changed that to automatic. That seems to have solved my situation for now.

I am now pretty sure the problem is this Adata SSD. I'm not such a big fan of Adata anymore...

Dragonchaser, can you give me a link to the update instructions? I have 8 SSDs and have updated firmware on all of them. They're mostly from different Manufacturers and most are different methods and different problems. I may be able to give you some suggestions that may help.

Also, if Adata has a forum, you may describe your problem there. Most of the Forums have some very experienced users who know the workarounds for all kinds of problems.

    Hi essenbe,

The computer froze again this morning.
The Windows Driver Foundation - User-mode Driver Framework service was still set to Automatic.
In other words: I'm still having problems.
Fortunately no more BSOD, just the computer freezing...

As mentioned before I'm trying to upgrade the firmaware on my Adata but no luck:

    1. I run Adata's ssdupdate.exe and it finds my drive:
    Attachment 333683

    2. I locate the firmware pkg file:
    Attachment 333684

    3. I click Download Firmware to Selected Drive:
    Attachment 333685

    4. I get this popup and I continue:
    Attachment 333686

Then it says "downloading sectors" but the tool closes and when I reboot the firmware is still unchanged.

Anyhow, I have contacted Adata support. I'll see what they have to say and I'll reply to this thread (or create a new thread).

Try it one more time, but this time put a check mark in the box next to the listing for A Data drive, then see if it makes a difference. I don't know much about that brand, but other brands, the updates can be a pain and the tool boxes ban be very touchy.

I am 100% sure the check box was checked (even if it does not show on the picture). I tried it several times (always checking that box; always).

I have contacted ADATA support and they wrote:

At first I can log in to the picture on the sevenforum.
Please send the picture with this mail.
However, please use AHCI mode in Bios, and use the Administrator rights in order to run the Field Updater.
    Please try it.
Please refer to this link for the Firmware and instruction.

I switched IDE to AHCI in the Bios following these instructions:
How to Change SATA Hard Disk Mode from IDE to AHCI / RAID in BIOS after Installing Windows

But then I got a message saying Checking NVRAM which did not go away.

Now I'm back to square one.

I have contacted Adata support again and I will post their reply here.

Doesn't sound like great support to me. I tried to download their datasheet but they wanted me to register for an account first. Personally, I would tell them it won't update the firmware and it is causing BSODs, so I want an RMA. Truthfully, I can't say it is the cause, but if it won't let you update firmware, it's defective. You'll get another one or some help updating I'm pretty sure.

By using Administrator rights, they mean when you start the program, right click the exe file and select run as administrator.
