My first BSOD, what an honour.

If it didn't happen while I was watching a TV show at a very emotional time....

Anyway, please treat me like a dinosaur when it comes to computers. I have no idea how they work other than magic.
So here I am, please let me know what other information you will need and how I can get it.
Also please don't make it too complicated to understand, like I said, treat me like a dinosaur.

Here's the ZIP thingy.

Hi There,

These are both related to your video card drivers,

Code:
BugCheck 1000007E, {ffffffffc0000005, fffff880078ffdbb, fffff8800a993228, fffff8800a992a80}

Probably caused by : atikmdag.sys ( atikmdag+c7dbb )

Followup: MachineOwner
---------
Code:
Loaded symbol image file: atikmdag.sys
    Image path: \SystemRoot\system32\DRIVERS\atikmdag.sys
    Image name: atikmdag.sys
    Timestamp: Thu Apr 17 19:13:16 2014 (53508A3C)
    CheckSum: 00EAEEE6
    ImageSize: 00F10000
    Translations: 0000.04b0 0000.04e4 0409.04b0 0409.04e4
Seems to be the latest WHQL available, Their drivers need help.

You can try the previous version 13.12 from here,

Detail

Or a more recent Beta version, 14.7 from here,

AMD Catalyst 14.7 Beta Driver for Windows

I did have someone else with an R9 card recently have success with that Beta driver.

My Recommendation is to:

Quote:
Uninstall your installed latest version of the display driver.
Then clean up any possible leftover.

Let us know how things go with that driver.

Thank you for the reply, I shall try the beta driver. Although I have a question, do I install the beta driver then uninstall and cleanup the old one or do I uninstall the old driver and cleanup then restart, then install the new one? Sorry this is probably a dumb question....I am a dinosaur.

removing the old drivers first and then installing new drivers will be good

You're welcome, no such thing as dumb questions.

I could have clarified that better, to answer your question though uninstall the old one, clean up (restart) install the new one.

The restart will most likely try to install a driver once it see's the hardware at startup.

If you want to just try a simple driver update first to the beta driver and see how that works, that's worth a try.

Okay done, uninstalled and cleaned out old one, and installed the new beta one. The BSoD's were random so only time will tell if it worked. But fingers crossed and thanks for your assistance.
