    BSOD while playing BF4

I have just recently reinstalled windows 7 after my computer crashed after trying to update my video card drivers causing my computer to only boot to windows loading screen the bsod.

I reinstalled all my programs and was playing bf4 and my game would play fine for about 5 min then it would lock up and loop the sound then crash. It did this too me a couple of times so i used driver verifier and had the computer crash a couple of times with in the first 2min of running it. Can someone please help.

it looks like im getting two different Bsods,

This is the Bsods im getting while playing in game.

On Sun 10/5/2014 1:13:04 AM GMT your computer crashed
    crash dump file: C:\Windows\memory.dmp
This was probably caused by the following module: hal.dll (hal!HalBugCheckSystem+0x1E3)
    Bugcheck code: 0x124 (0x0, 0xFFFFFA8007B15028, 0xB2000040, 0x800)
    Error: WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR
    file path: C:\Windows\system32\hal.dll
    product: Microsoft® Windows® Operating System
    company: Microsoft Corporation
    description: Hardware Abstraction Layer DLL
Bug check description: This bug check indicates that a fatal hardware error has occurred. This bug check uses the error data that is provided by the Windows Hardware Error Architecture (WHEA).
This is likely to be caused by a hardware problem problem. This problem might be caused by a thermal issue.
The crash took place in a standard Microsoft module. Your system configuration may be incorrect. Possibly this problem is caused by another driver on your system which cannot be identified at this time.

    Hello,

    Code:
    ASACPI.sys Sun Mar 27 21:30:36 2005 (42476C4C
Older drivers like this are a common cause of BSODs. Please update: http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx

    Code:
    ctac32k.sys Wed Jul 2 03:38:22 2008
    Please update: Creative Worldwide Support

    Code:
    NvStreamKms.sys Fri Jul 25 06:35:56 2014 (53D2411C)
In all honesty I have never seen this driver before. After doing some research it is a nVidia driver, and after doing more research it is shown to cause problems in windows 8.1. Although you are not running 8.1, I suggest you uninstall ALL nVidia drivers, and reinstall ONLY the display drivers.

    Code:
    Start Menu\Programs\MagicDisc	Public:Start Menu\Programs\MagicDisc Public
Until we figure out the problem of this BSOD, can you please uninstall this program. If found that this isn't the cause then you can reinstall it.

    Code:
    Probably caused by: HIDCLASS.SYS
This is showing that the BSOD is being caused by USB drivers. Reinstall them, you can also update them through Windows Update.

    Code:
    BugCheck Info: DRIVER_VERIFIER_IOMANAGER_VIOLATION (c9)
This also shows that you have driver verifier on. For now Turn off(you can do so using this tutorial): Driver Verifier - Enable and Disable

    Code:
    Probably caused by: GenuineIntel
    BugCheck Info: WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR (124)
    Code:
    Expected Frequency: 2660
    Actual Frequency: 4250
Undo your overclock. This could be the MAIN cause of this BSOD. But also follow the steps below!

    BugCheck 0x124

You have a 0x124 hardware bugcheck. If the system is still under warranty, I would recommend sending it in to have diagnostic tests done and any bad hardware replaced.

       Warning
Before you proceed with the following, answer these two questions: Are you still under warranty? Does your warranty allow you to open up the machine to check hardware? If you are unsure of the answers to these questions, contact your system manufacturer. WARNING: The steps that follow can void your warranty!!!

For your hardware stop 0x124 crash, read through Stop 0x124 - what it means and what to try and use the following hardware checks to supplement that link.

    • If you are overclocking any hardware, please stop.

    • If you have an SSD, make sure the following are up to date:
      • SSD firmware
      • BIOS Version
      • Chipset Drivers
      • Hard disk controller drivers/SATA drivers
      • If you have a Marvell IDE ATA/ATAPI device, make sure the drivers are up to date from the Intel site or Marvell site and not from your motherboard/vendor support site.

    • Run all but the advanced tests with SeaTools for HDDs.
    • Monitor temperatures during the following tests.
Use the following programs to monitor the temperatures.

    • Run the boot version of Memtest86+ paying close attention to Parts 2 and 3 of the tutorial. Also, in case Memtest86+ misses anything and comes up with no errors, run the extended version of the Windows Memory Diagnostics Tool for at least five passes. These you may want to run overnight since they take a long time to complete (run them an hour before bed each of the next two nights and check before going to sleep that they are still running).

For Part 3: If You Have Errors: If you swap any memory components, follow these steps for ESD safety:
      1. Shut down and turn off your computer.
      2. Unplug all power supplies to the computer (AC Power then battery for laptops, AC power for desktops)
      3. Hold down the power button for 30 seconds to close the circuit and ensure all power drains from components.
      4. Make sure you are grounded by using proper grounding techniques, i.e. work on an anti-static workbench, anti-static desk, or an anti-static pad. Hold something metallic while touching it to the anti-static surface, or use an anti-static wristband to attach to the anti-static material while working. If you do not have an anti-static workbench, desk, or pad, you can use your computer tower/case by finding a metal hold in it, such as a drive bay.

Once these steps have been followed, it is safe to remove and replace components within your computer.

Remember to read closely through Stop 0x124 - what it means and what to try for the crash.

After you complete this, post back results. It is possible I may have missed something has I have been gone for some time.

I have two video cards in my computer an gtx470 and a gts 8800 512mb card, the 8800 driver is the one i currently have installed as the latest one for my gtx470 only causes bsods.

The overclock was actually 3.42 Ghz dont know why it was stating 4250, i set almost everything back to stock in the bios but im running the cpu overclock profile as xmp so my ram will run at the default clock of 1600 instead of 1066 at stock.

so far i haven't had a bsod, but it seems i fixed one issue and might have found another, now when im playing bf4 i can play for about 10-15 min then my entire computer and game will lock up and sound loop freeze. only way to recover from this is to restart the computer.

RE: after i finished writing this my computer locked up on the desktop and my mouse and keyboard stopped working and the lights in both went off.

Have you tried plugging them into different USB ports?

The computer freezing/ locking up and the mouse and keyboard stop working are all one event. i wonder if something on my computer is going out or if its a driver or something screwing up.

my computer froze again but this time my mouse light stayed flashing but my keyboard went off and when i unplugged my usb drive on my keyboard it cause the lights to go on momentarily on the keyboard but quickly went back off so i got an old keyboard i never used and am trying to see if this fixes the issue. i also deleted the usb drivers and force windows to reinstall them and i also disabled the usb power option so hopefully this fixes my current issues.

Sorry for this late reply, work has been busy.

When you Uninstalled the drivers, did you do so thru device driver?

i followed the guide for deleting the INFCACHE.1 file and reinstalling it. i tried using another keyboard but it still does it, i also deleted the creative drivers and installed pax driivers for them instead, still no luck. i think ill pull my computer out and start checking to see if everything is connected 100 percent and nothing is lose.

This only started after i had to reinstall windows due to bad nvidia driver that killed my computer. so im hoping its just a bad driver.

Do you have the BETA drivers installed? If so, maybe try reverting back to older versions.
