On the point of dumping W7 HP 64 bit
After 18 months just over, of Vista HP 32 bit. After reading the good reports from the people who tried the beta versions, I thought it would be nice to change to W7 HP 64 bit. Unfortunately I have had endless problems with this version.
Lockups and crashed but mainly blue screens. Amongs them are Memory management, page fault in non page area and kernel data inpage error.
I have the latest bios, the ATI graphics drivers are the latest for this version of windows ( I have tried other 64 bit versions to see if that would help, it didn't) also sound (X-Fi Extreme music)
Apart from the system specs listed below, what other information do I need to include for someone to be able to help me with this. Despite other peoples experiences with Vista, my installation worked perfectly from the day I installed it.
The Hard drive it is installed on is just over 18 months, I bought it to install Vista on and has been carefuly handled. So far I have tried 3 repair installations of W7 and 2 clean installs. I have used the startup repair, and the memory test facility to see if that could be the cause.
I would love to stay with this version of Windows, but for the sake of my sanity I might have to go back to Vista 32 bit, even with the loss of the extra ddr capacity.
