Hmm it's not working like it did with the other version of memtest86 I used.

I downloaded the file the instructions you linked me told me to download. I ran the executable and it formatted my USB drive again and said it copied the necessary files over. My BIOS is still set to boot from this USB drive.

And yet it simply doesn't boot to it. Restarted 3 times and tried shutting down and booting up. Each time it went straight to windows.

"memtest86+-5.01.usb.installer" is the one I downloaded and used.

Try creating the bootable USB using the ISO linked below.

Actually sorry. My BIOS showed two instances of a bootable 7800 meg USB. I guess it was still remembering the old one from my first memory test last night. When I selected the other one it worked fine and the test is running its first pass now. Off to sleep I go.

Whelp it was on pass 4. Which I think mean it completed four passes and was on the fifth since it's 0 based.

It showed no errors and was still running when I got on five minutes ago.

I had it running for 11'ish hours which is strange. From what I read I thought that would get it to pass 7 or 8.

But it showed zero errors.

Is that sufficient data for our purposes? I really can't afford to have this computer inaccessible for more than 12 hours.

Also: I'll be back in just a bit with the regular log file

We really do need to run eight passes with MemTest86+ for conclusive results. It's taking a long time because of the amount of memory you have installed.

All I can think of is testing a single stick a night. Would that be enough?

I'd recommend two sticks at a time really as you're testing the slots as well as the sticks. Two sticks should go through overnight no trouble.
