    Sudden BSOD during regular usage

    Hi to all Members!

A sudden BSOD happened to me yesterday that I cannot really explain. I suspect it to be possibly related to my graphics card / -drivers, since I have already had problems with it.

I'd really appreciate your help here! :)

    Best Regards,

Apparently the BSOD has something to do with the display driver.
    Code:
    fffff880`07657248 fffff880`0f38c593Unable to load image \SystemRoot\system32\DRIVERS\atikmdag.sys, Win32 error 0n2
*** WARNING: Unable to verify timestamp for atikmdag.sys
*** ERROR: Module load completed but symbols could not be loaded for atikmdag.sys
     atikmdag+0x128593
Can you uninstall 14.9 WHQL and use an old but stable one as a test?

Uninstall your installed latest version of the display driver.

Then clean up any possible leftover.

Then install version 13.9 WHQL only.

Let us know how it is running.

Hi Arc, and thanks for helping! It's good to know what was causing the issue, but I don't think installing Catalyst 13.9 will help. This is because 1. I have no way to reproduce this issue (this was the first BSOD in a long time), and 2. I own the graphics card for roughly 11 months and while I had many many issues and BSODs with the first drivers (the product was basically bleeding edge), this stuff has got really rare and I even wonder that it still happened.
Maybe it would be better if I send the memory dump to AMD?

Also, just curious: Why would you consider Catalyst 13.9 to be the most stable? When I started with 13.12 I remember things being rough and unpolished until starting to calm down somewhere at v14.4. Since then I've had maybe a few rare BSODs (however 14.4 still liked to crash itself). With recent releases I'm rather content. Catalyst 13.9 was the first ever (consumer) graphics driver for this card if I remember correctly, so how would it be stable?

Apart from that, when can one expect the next (in your terms) "stable" release? I actually thought that all WHQL releases are to be considered stable? Or is this based on the experiences you made in this forum?

Well that was my experience with the R7 260x at least :)

    Thanks so far!
