BSOD Windows 7, system hangs and a minidump never created

Hi Sevenforums,

I'm almost at my wits' end with my PC. At the moment it's stable enough for me to write this forum post to you lovely guys and girls, but since about 12 this afternoon the machine has crashed 4 times - each time with the BSOD.

Mostly I use the PC for motion graphics/animation (After Effects, Cinema 4D), design (Adobe Suite), and sometimes for gaming. The crashes tend to happen when I'm in After Effects (AE) or Photoshop, which I know rely more on the GPU and RAM too. While surfing the web it seems to be fine.

I've tried to activate both the small memory dump, as well as the kernel memory dump but to no avail. It was my aim to run the Windows debugger for more information.

I've tried running the BurnInTest to see what sort of stress the machine can cope with, but again it crashed after 8 or so mins into the test.

I've never tried or intend to overclock the machine as it seems (or used) to run fine as is.

This seems to have started in the last six months to a year, but happens much more frequently now.

I'm considering just wiping the drive or buying a new HD, then rebuilding the OS in the next couple of weeks if there's no clear solution.

If there's any advice you can give I'd be most grateful

Thanks in advance,

Chris.

Hey sorry to bump this up, but any thoughts or advice?

I tried to run a memory test/check last night before Windows booted up, then once the test had finished Windows couldn't boot up at all. I'm thinking of rebuilding the OS in the next week or so. Any advice on how best to format or clean a HD?

Thanks again
Chris.

Hey Laith thanks for the reply. I'll try and rebuild it this weekend, as sadly nothing I can do seems to have fixed the problems.

Everything works fine and the machine doesn't crash in safe mode, so I wonder if it's some drivers or maybe the GPU that's exhausted or need updating.

Thanks again.
Chris.

If your GPU is exhausted you'll be able to check it via speecy. If the temps are okay then the drivers needs some updating.

No minidump folder created after BSOD
On my pc, I received a BSOD and it automatically created a minidump folder (C:\windows\minidump) and I was able to resolve the issue reading the dump files. My co-worker got a BSOD but no minidump folder was created, therefore there are no dump files for me to look at to help resolve the issue. ...

Hi, I am haunted by BSOD for some months now (approx 1-2 per week). They mostly occur during some RAM intensive things (videos, skype, image processing, antivirus check). I am pretty sure it is memory and/or driver related. I unsucessfully tried various things to fix it yet: - Changed Ram,...
