As far as the amount of space, that is up to you. I normally allow 10%. but it depends on the free space on your SSD. When we do a clean install, F will not be in the picture and you can have C on and F off.

If you are planning a clean install soon, AHCI can be configured then. Anything you do now, will be undone then and really won't matter. I would strongly advise a Clean install soon, then wipe F clean and start over. That will resolve any of these problems. I can't say this is what is causing your problems, but I can say it certainly does not help in the operation, performance and discovery of what the problems are.

It would be best if you did to get rid of any system files left. If you can, transfer any files you want to keep, personal documents, pictures and such to an external drive. Wipe the WD drive clean, I can tell you how. Set your bios to AHCI Mode. Disconnect all drives except the SSD, so that you only have 1 drive connected, the one you want Windows installed on. Make sure you have all of your drivers downloaded on a USB flash drive. Make sure you have any activation codes for any software you will be installing, including Windows, Office or anything else have all or most of the installers handy already downloaded for programs you want to install or the DVD for them. In other words, think ahead for what you will need. During the install process I format my SSD using diskpart, I can show you how to do it. Very simple. Then do the install. When the install is complete install any drivers you need first, especially the Chipset, the Lan and the Graphics driver. Then run all updates. The first time there will be like 130 updates, if you want to make sure it is right, install about 25 at a time, then the next 25 and so on until finished. It will be easier on the computer, but take you longer or you can install them all at once if you want. Install all the important and recommended updates except the graphics driver, which you already installed. Keep checking for updates until there are no more. Once that is finished, shut the computer down and plug in the Western Digital drive. If you haven't done so, go to disk management and format and assign it a drive letter and you will be back in business. Then install your software to the SSD if at all possible Transfer what you saved to your external drive back to the Western Digital. Set it up like you want it and you are back in business, only this time all system files will be on the SSD and there can not be any on the western Digital as it was disconnected at the time you did the install. I do it a little different that some, but I make sure everything is done as right as I can do it.

Read through those and you will know exactly what to expect. There should be no surprises. What should be most important to you, id remove at least 1 wire from the Western Digital before you start. That way the installer cannot see any drive other than the one you are installing to, so all of your system files will be on the SSD as they should be. If at any time you need help or a question, be sure to ask. I don't mind a bit.

jeanpierregeorg, When you do the clean install, make sure that all internal and external drives are disconnected so the installer can see only the SSD. You should then install the Chipset driver, the Lan driver and the Graphics driver, Then run all of the Windows updates and keep checking for more until there are no more. Next go to device manager and look for anything with yellow icons. Any of those you will need to install Drivers for, for instance USB 3.0. If it were me, considering the problems you have been having, I would install MSE for an AV and nothing else and use it for a few days until you know it is stable. At that point, make a system image. You can install Macrium or Paragon, Both have free versions. If you have BSODs after the clean install with adding nothing but MSE, you have a hardware problem. You have checked almost everything you can check. Correct me if I am wrong, we have checked the Ram with Memtest86+, The graphics card, the hard drives, Have run Driver verifier, You could always try Prime95 if you have sufficient cooling of the CPU. The Intel Stock Cooler won't do the job. You may try the Intel Processor Diagnostic test Processors — What is the Intel® Processor Diagnostic Tool?. That should be OK, but keep check on your CPU temps at all times, and stop the test if they get too high. That would only leave the PSU and the Motherboard.

I gave you 2 links in my last post that will take you step by step through a clean install. When you get ready, post in this thread and I will be notified and will help you any way I can. A clean Install, if you add nothing other than what I said before, there are no drivers there or programs that should cause you to BSOD. I will be more than happy to help, if you will let me know.

I really don't know about the anti Malware. It could be, and it wouldn't hurt to run MSE, and also run some online scans such as

Hopefully, a clean install will sort all of that stuff out. I would consider downloading a newer ISO file for the new install, as long as you can download the drivers you need from Dell. Downloading them will get you the most current ones Dell has. As far as your graphics driver, I thought it looked fairly old to me. Maybe not, at your card is an older one. They may not come out with new drivers quite as often. One of the articles I posted about the clean install tells you where to download the newer ISO files for Windows 7. The only difference id it will take a 'robo call' to Microsoft to activate it. You will just 'talk' to a machine, and they will give you the numbers to put in.
