    WIndows 7 64bit BSOD 0x0000007e (0xffffffffc0000005,

Happens at night after I've left the computer on, and turned my monitors off. My power settings are all "high performance" so there is no sleep, suspend usb, etc etc.

Seems to happen after a few to several hours of idle time. It's the same error code always, but does not cite the faulty driver. However Blue Screen Viewer says it is atikmdag.sys and dxgkrnl.sys.

I've tried the hot fixes suggested on MS forums, they all say update does not apply to my computer.

i seem to have fine performance during games i can play for hours with stability, chkdsk is also fine, no issues.

Any suggestions. I'd thought about doing this: How to Repair a Faulty Windows Installation Without Reformatting | Maximum PC

But I'm not sure if that can work since I created my own custom windows install with slipstreamed SP1, and several updates.

The system logs are fairly uninformative. A few random SideBySide errors, but nothing really happens leading up to the bugcheck.

All my drivers and updates are all up to date. Including video drivers (just came out two days ago, which does correspond to the beginning of the problem). However i am getting better performance in games so I'd like to keep the new video drivers. 14.12 Omega.

I'm wondering if it has anything to do with AMD drivers no longer being WMD framework certified?

    Any thought are appreciated. THanks.

Its definately video driver-related, no doubt about that.

    Code:

As a baseline test, try the Microsoft-certified drivers:
    1. Uninstall current video drivers
    2. Reboot
    3. Run Windows Update - check Optional Updates
    4. Install video driver offered by Windows Update - don't update further.

Use as normal and see if system stays stable.

I'd rather not go with the Windows video driver as this is a newer card R9 270x 4GB. In using older drivers, I've found I have instability during games and poor performance. Is there anyway to fix the error that this driver is throwing (missing time stamp)?

No, the time stamp its just an indication that the driver is the issue - its not to be taken literally.

Can you help me answer the question if doing a repair install per the link I provided is possible if I used my own custom windows installer (slip streamed?). I have run sfc /scannow and I do have corrupt files that it says it cannot fix. However, prior to this BSOD, I've had remarkable stability, except for a few BSOD's related to my Marvel eSATA driver. I think my eSATA drive was failing, but I am not sure. Since I disconnected it, I have had not BSOD's until these video drivers.

I'm wondering if because of my SSD, these BSOD's are accumulating to cause some corrupted Windows files and if I should attempt a repair install to correct the errors identified in sfc /scannow.

Though I have remarkably few errors in the Admin log....and not really any other issues.

Well after I got rid of the screwed up windows update. I uninstalled, cleaned and reinstalled my video drivers, everything was solid over night for about a week, and then randomly in the middle of the day, i got it again. There is literally nothing in the administrative log for about 2 hours leading up to the crash.
