PC Crashing While in Sleep Mode

This problem started recently. I had not installed anything new I can think of. I've been trying to use Restore Points. It seems to work until I get another "Windows Critical Update", but I may be wrong about the link between the two.

Basically, nearly every time I leave my computer for any length of time, I come back and discover that I cannot awaken it by pressing on the keyboard or mouse keys. I press the reset button on the front of my computer and get an error saying Windows did not shut down properly. (I think you know the rest.)

I look at the errors and it's always a blue screen.

I think I have read all the instructions and prepared a file using the dm log collector. The resulting ZIP is 2MB. When I tried to attach it here, I get an error saying 413 Request Entity Too Large. But the maximum is 8MB, so I'm not sure how to proceed.

I would be grateful for any help.

Aha! It failed again, then worked when I turned off HotSpotShield.

Ironically, the cause of the BSOD's is HotSpotShield (taphss6.sys) - update or uninstall it completely.

Well HotSpotShield is completely useless.

Brilliant! Thanks!

BTW, I subscribed to HSS because I live in Europe and can't watch The Daily Show online without hiding my location. I'd be happy to hear about alternatives if you know of better ones. It's the only thing I use it for.

BSOD computer randomly crashing overnight while in sleep mode
My laptop would crash overnight while I am asleep every few days. I would have it be on sleep mode before I sleep, then the BSOD would be on when I wake up in the morning.
