BSOD After 20-30 minutes on computer (while playing/Standby)

Please fill out your System Specs

   Information

Your System Specs will help us to help you, and doing it in this manner will make them available to all helpers in every post and keep us from hunting for them. We ask that you fill them out in as much detail as possible including Desktop or Laptop, Model number if it is an OEM computer and all components with the Manufacturer and Model number if possible.

Your last dump file was on 12-07 the one before that was in October. Either you are not having very frequent BSODs or your system is not creating them. Please make sure your system is configured for Small Minidump files, Dump Files - Configure Windows to Create on BSOD Also make sure you have a folder named Minidump in C:/Windows, if not, create one.

That is the Zone Alarm TrueVector Device Driver. Please remove Zone Alarm and replace it with Microsoft Security Essentials (Microsoft Security Essentials - Microsoft Windows)

I may also suggest you run Check Disk on all Mechanical Hard drives in your system, (Disk Check) and run the long and short test of Seatools
SeaTools for DOS and Windows - How to Use Let us know the results of those scans when you do them.

Also, please open an elevated command prompt ( click start, type cmd in the search box, right click on the cmd entry and select run as administrator) in the black box that opens, copy/paste sfc /scannow. If you decide to type it, notice the space between the sfc and the /. It is a system file checker which will scan your system files and attempt to correct any missing or corrupt files. What we want are the results to say windows found no integrity violations. If it says files were found but could not be repaired, close the box, reboot and run it again, after opening the administrative command prompt. You may have to reboot and run it three times for it to repair all system files. If it can't repair them after 3 reboots, let us know.

No problem, but realize high temps can cause a BSOD also. They may very well be related.

Hello Essenbe, thanks for your help so far. I forgot to mention that my HDD is about 3-4 years old and has had some problems before, I think its time for another one, Just a quick question, Should I get a 1 Tb one or a 500 gb one? Ive read that getting a bigger one is bad because it breaks down quickly, please help me out :)

Ive downloaded Seagate for windows but every test fails, I would try the DOS one but I think It will be the same since I am planning to change my HDD, Thanks for your time, I think this is going off topic so after this question I think its safe to close the topic and mark it as resolved since my PC doesnt shut down by itself anymore. Thank you very much again!

Edit : my comp just restarted again, I would like you to check this one more time please, I already changed my PC as you said to generate minidumps btw no BSOD appears it just shuts down.

I really can't help you much with Laptop hard drives. I use SSDs. With desktop hard drives the bigger they are the more failures there are, but it would depend on how much space you need. I have several 2 TB Hard drives I have had fairly good luck with, but they are 3.5" drives. Bigger ones do fail more often, in my opinion, but that's the reason you should do regular backups, so you don't lose data, no matter what size hard drive you buy. There is no substitute for backups.
