You have to remove three and then do the test one at a time. Don't stop when you find one with an error - test all 4 individually

You are always better off replacing ram in kits. Kits (or sets) are tested to work together where individual sticks are not. But first you need to determine if it is bad ram or a bad motherboard slot. You do that by taking 1 good stick of ram and running the test in each slot. (don't worry, 1 stick of ram won't take 20 hours) If it passes in each slot it is the ram. If it passes in 3 slots and fails in the other slot, it is most likely the Dimm Slot on the Motherboard.
What brand of memory do you have? Most of the major manufacturers like G Skill, Kingston, Corsair, have lifetime warranties on their ram. The downside of that is it won't cost anything but you will be without ram during the process. Some of them will do an advanced RMA, though.
If you want to gamble, you can just replace the ram without testing the board, but that is a gamble.

i believe theyre corsair, but i got the laptop from ibuypower and their customer service is absolute garbage
so im honestly just debating on just taking the gamble and getting 4 new sticks of ram. if the slot itself was messed up, i wouldnt have to get an entire new motherboard, would i?

So things have finally settled a little and I am getting a chance to tinker with my laptop. It has 4 sticks but I only can find two of them. So I ran the memtest after taking the two that were assessable out and am looking at this.. I have aBattalion 101 P170EM case. Any ideas?

sorry, i found my old media center and have been making due with it for the past couple months
but i do a lot of video editing lol
SO, i checked each individual stick and only one of the four failed at all, so i am just working on the 12GBs instead of 16, BUT, my laptop only lasted a few short hours before its first BSOD and has continued to do so on a semi-regular basis
