BSOD when trying to update my audio driver

When I try to update my realtek High Definition audio driver I get a BSOD during the update.

I tried getting the driver update from this site:Realtek but it doesn't work for me when I try to download it.

So I got the install from here instead:Realtek HD Audio 2.75 driver download downloading the 64 bit version.

When I started my computer after the crash my audio driver is broken? I am not sure it has a red cross on the bottom right icon. Had to system restore to fix it.

I considered uninstalling the driver first but when I restart it reinstalls itself so I gave up with that idea.

Any ideas why it is doing this and how I can update it to the latest version?
