exeviss,

Please give this a whirl...

Boot into Safe Mode, and click the Start button
Type msconfig in the search box
In the list of results, click msconfig.exe.

In the System Configuration box, click the Boot tab.
Under Boot options uncheck the box next to: Safe boot
Press: Apply > OK

Restart the computer.

What happened?

Wouldn't that just make it not boot at all? It only boots it safe mode.

If none of the repairs work with the other drive unplugged then you can rescue any files and Clean Reinstall Windows 7.

This Registry key is present in your system:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\SafeBoot\Option]
"OptionValue"=dword:00000001

If you change the OptionValue to 0, the machine should boot to normal mode, after a reboot.

Instead of editing the Registry, let the System Configuration utility do it for you.

yeah. It shows the loading screen but never shows the blue startup it just reboots automatically and gives me the option to boot into safe mode. So each time I try to boot normally and that fails it reboots on its own. Safe mode says I recovered from an improper shutdown each time.
I haven't tried "bootsect /nt60 all" yet but It may be time to just back everything up.

Please open a Command Prompt
Right click and select: Run as Administrator

At the Command Prompt, copy/paste the following (using the mouse), and press: Enter

reg query "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\SafeBoot\Option" /s

Do you get the following, or something else.

Microsoft Windows [Version 6.1.7601]
Copyright (c) 2009 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved.
C:\windows\system32>reg query "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contr
ol\SafeBoot\Option" /s
ERROR: The system was unable to find the specified registry key or value.

If something else, please post the info.

I think I'm just going to go ahead and do a reinstall. I work from home and so need my computer, I can't really afford to spend any more time trying to save the installation. Thanks for trying. Now I just need the proper steps to back everything up and reinstall.
