    Actually nothing changed.
    Code:
    BugCheck 124, {0, fffffa8003553038, b6000000, 10015}

    Probably caused by : AuthenticAMD

    Followup: MachineOwner
    ---------
    PROCESS_NAME:  chrome.exe
    If I had been in your place, I would have uninstalled Chrome and use any other browser; just to see how this change affects the situation.

    Please understand that uninstalling Chrome is not a feasible solution. Also dont expect that it will solve the issue. But there will be some dimentional change to the issue which will help us to understand the situation.

    A stop 0x124 with the first parameter as zero means a machine check exception. That means, the CPU detected some hardware failure, but could not identify the failing hardware with certainty. Plus, it might be any driver or settings that is causing the hardware to fail. In short, it may be anything and everything included in the computer's environment.

    Also let us know which network adapter you actually use? The ethernet one or the Ralink WiFi adapter?

    Hi. Do you recommend that I uninstall Chrome, that way we can see if the computer provides more information on the error?

    Also, are there any potential bios changes, a possibility to disable drivers / devices or even a way to edit the registry to disable machine check exception?

    The thing is that the computer works fine, until it decides to randomly restart.

    I think that I only use the Wifi driver. I don't plug my computer in at all.

    I can disable devices in the devices manager if you think that would help.

    Thank you.

    No, you dont need to disable anything in Device manager right now. ATM you uninstall Chrome and use any other browser. It should not stop the BSODs per se, but comparing the coming dumps with the previous dumps will lead us to some next step, I am strongly expecting.

    A BIOS update can solve a stop 0x124, that is seen a number of times. Your present BIOS is ...
    Code:
    BiosVersion = F.13
    BiosReleaseDate = 07/07/2011
    If you can get a BIOS update for your HP Pavilion dm1, go for it. That will be a very nice move, obviously.

    If Arc doesn't mind, I'd like to make 1 suggestion. Look in BIOS and see what your sata configuration is now (IDE, AHCI, or Raid). After the BIOS update, set optimized defaults. Check your sata configuration and make sure it is set the way it is right now, set your boot order to CD/DVD 1ST boot Device and Hard Drive to 2ND boot device, save and exit.

    Hi. I've had 2 more BSOD.

    I'm attaching the report.

    I didn't uninstall Chrome. 90% of my time spent on the computer is with Chrome open, i'm worried that if i uninstall it that i'll lose bookmarks or something.

    I will uninstall it if there is no other solution though as I want to be part of the solution and will definitely comply if you think it's our best option.

    There is no additional Bios update. I have the HP Pavilion dm1 product # XL303AV.

    Perhaps most importantly, I can't access the Advanced Bios screen. I tried for about an hour last night. (Pressed F10 and then A)

    I wanted to modify the Advanced Power Option (High performance) and minimum processor (to no c-state).

    Do you think if i reinstall the same bios, that I'll be able to access the Advanced options?

    I guess we are getting close to the end. The computer will function fine and then it'll just reset. I'm not sure if it's related to the software updates that I did on December 28th.

    This is very frustrating, but I simply don't know what else to do. Maybe I should disable some driver's that I'm not using?

    I'm sorry, I'm a bit frustrated that we have all worked very hard on this yet it hasn't been fixed (assuming that it's not a hardware issue, which it may be).

    Please let me know your thoughts. If you think it's best that i uninstall chrome then i can do so.

    I have attached 2 photos. One shows the boot order and the other which shows an error when trying to repair the problem.

    Also, I tried to access the SATA settings in the BIOS but couldn't find them, perhaps they are accessible in Windows?

    Thank you.

    David

    Hi. I uninstalled Chrome yesterday and have not had a BSOD since. I'll give it 1-2 more days, but it seems that Chrome was the problem.

    I would like to use Chrome (95% of my time on the computer is spent with Chrome open), I'm comfortable with it and have used it for 4 years, do you guys have any tips on any additional changes / precautions that I can make to prevent future BSOD? Is there a way of knowing why Chrome caused the BSOD?

    Or would you recommend that if I want to use Chrome, that I should use the regular version and not the Beta.

    Thank you for everything. It seems that we have ben able to fix the problem!

    I certainly hope your computer problems are solved, but would give it a few more days before declaring it solved. As for Chrome, I have no idea why it caused your computer to crash. I have Chrome, but use it very little, but I know what you mean about trying to get used to a new browser. It's difficult. Because I use Chrome so little, I don't know any tips to give you about it. I think it is always much safer to stay away from Betas of anything. Perhaps Arc will come along and have some words of wisdom for you, but congratulations for your BSOD free days. Once you have used it this way long enough to feel comfortable to believe that this problem is resolved, please mark this thread as solved.

    If this issue is really solved, it will add a great info to our knowledge base.

    So please let us know for any further BSOD, or if there is no more BSOD, too.

    Hi. I will close this out tomorrow (would like to give it one more day) but the issue seems to be fixed.

    It appears (and it's difficult to pinpoint exactly) that there was something in the Chrome Beta program that was triggering the BSOD,

    I, after a little prodding, followed all of the steps provided (Driver Verifier, Installed all Windows Updates, uninstalled all programs that were updated / installed immediately before the BSOD began). The analysis of the dump reports really helped to pinpoint the Chrome error.

    I am actually still using Chrome, I simply downloaded the new x64 bit version. Chrome is great because it saves all the settings, so it was very easy to uninstall and then install the new version.

    I wanted to thank everyone for their help and for being patient with me. An 0x0124 error oftentimes signifies a hardware failure, but it appears that it's not always the case.

    Does this Website accept donations? If so, I would like to make one. For the 3 weeks that I was having issues, it was very stressful because I would be doing work and then my computer would randomly restart.

    I'll report back in a day and close out the issue if there are no more BSOD between now and then.

    Thanks again.
