BSOD STOP: 0x00000124. Happens 2x a day, Normally Without Provocation

Hi. I've had this laptop for almost 4 years.

About a week ago, I started having random BSOD. It happens about 2x a day simply while I'm surfing the internet.

I ran a few diagnostic tests and everything checked out CPU, Ram, etc. except for the battery (the battery only holds a charge for like 40 minutes). But I've had the issue with the battery for a long time and it's never caused BSOD before.

The actual BSOD says that "the system encountered an uncorrectable hardware error"

The actual Technical information is as follows:

    *** STOP: 0x00000124 (0x0000000000000000, 0xFFFFFA80034DA038, 0x00000000B6000000, 0x0000000000010015)

I'm submitting the requested information as well.

Thank you very much for your help!

Hello SavingHumanity, I will try to help if I can. But first I need you to do something for me.
Please fill out your System Specs

       Information
Your System Specs will help us to help you, and doing it in this manner will make them available to all helpers in every post and keep us from hunting for them. We ask that you fill them out in as much detail as possible including Desktop or Laptop, Model number if it is an OEM computer and all components with the Manufacturer and Model number if possible.

If you will go to your last post and click the 'System Specs' in the bottom left of the post, you will find a link to update your system specs. Please fill those out in as much detail as possible, making sure to click save at the bottom of the page. If you would like to know what we would like, you can click 'My System Specs' at the bottom left of this post to see mine. If you do not know what your components are, this will help you accomplish this task. System Info - See Your System Specs

After looking at your dump files, I am not sure what is going on. You are having 0X124 errors which is a general hardware error but gives no indication of what component. It normally means a piece of hardware is bad or a driver is causing to act as though it was bad. What your dump files are blaming now is

    Code:
    atikmpag
    start end module name
    fffff880`02404000 fffff880`02455000 atikmpag T (no symbols)
        Loaded symbol image file: atikmpag.sys
        Image path: atikmpag.sys
        Image name: atikmpag.sys
        Timestamp: Wed Aug 03 23:02:53 2011 (4E3A19ED)
        CheckSum: 000521B7
        ImageSize: 00051000
        Translations: 0000.04b0 0000.04e4 0409.04b0 0409.04e4
Which is your graphics driver and you will also note that it is way out of date. Please go to your Manufacturer's Web Site and update to the latest driver and see if that makes a difference.

Hi. Thank you very much. I've updated the System information.

Additionally, I've found the following drivers:

    https://us.driverscollection.com/?fi...bd71965d2e6be8

Do you think I should install this updated driver?

Also, is there anything else that you saw in the report? Perhaps there was an issue with the motherboard?

Kindly let me know your thoughts and then I'll proceed accordingly.

SavingHumanity, only install drivers from the HP web site. Find your computer and they will list drivers from it. Never intall drivers from anywhere else, or graphics drivers from AMD.

Ouch. i actually just updated it with that link. That's bad. I guess I'll keep it and see if it fixes the problem. If not, then I'll revert back to the old one (which is the most updated driver on the HP website):

AMD High-Definition Graphics Driver - HP Pavilion dm1-3016au Entertainment Notebook PC | HP® Support

From reviewing the updated System Specs and the dump, are there any other clues as to what might be the issue?

Thank you for the help. I appreciate it and am cautiously optimistic.

Do you have switchable graphics? In other words, does your computer switch between the on chip graphics and the dedicated card?

I'm sorry, but how would I be able to find out?

I don't play any video games. I just use the laptop for the internet.

So if one method is more stable, then I'd definitely want to choose that one.

For display adapters, the Device Manager only shows AMD Radeon HD 6310 Graphics

Yet for "Sound, video and game controllers" it shows both AMD High Definition Audio Device and also IDT High Definition Audio CODEC

OK, that's good enough. After installing the driver, have you had any problems?

Hi. I have updated the driver. I wanted to give it some time because normally I receive the BSOD like 2x / day. I left the computer on while I went out and when I came back, there was a BSOD.

I'm attaching the latest document. I think the only thing that has changed is the latest dump report, entitled, "123114-18642-01"

Kindly let me know your thoughts.
