BSOD when HDTV or AV AMP or both are in standby or powered off

    System Specs:
Operating System Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit SP1
    CPU Intel Core i5 760 @ 2.80GHz
    RAM 8.00GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 664MHz (9-9-9-24)
Motherboard Dell Inc. 0C2KJT (CPU 1)
    Graphics 1024MB ATI AMD Radeon R7 200 Series (Sapphire/PCPartner)
Storage 931GB Seagate ST31000528AS ATA Device (SATA)
    BIOS Version/Date Dell Inc. A07, 13/11/2010

    Back ground info:
    Issues Installing AMD Radeon R7 200 in Dell 580 Windows 7 SP1

The issue I have been experiencing since installing a new PSU and GPU is BSODs only occurring when I leave my computer on and put my HDTV or AV AMP or both into standby mode or powered off. I have my power settings to never sleep or turn off display so I am unsure whether the BSOD would occur if the PC was put into sleep mode.

I have been wracking my brains for a couple of months over this and spent hours reading up in the hope of finding the answer.

At first I thought it might be a lack power to the GPU from the PSU, but then why would the AMP provide any additional power and so I switched off the HDTV but left the AMP on and the inevitable BSOD occurred. I haven't check power levels - I don't own a
    digital multi-meter.

Then I thought RAM. I ran the utility Windows Memory Diagnostic tool to check, no issues. Although not to muddy the waters but until I can run memtest86 I can't be certain, for I have very recently witnessed unusual RAM usage behavior.

I haven't run tests on my HDD.

I have run chkdsk /f /r and sfc /scannow without any issues/errors found.

I installed bluescreenviewer & WinDbg to attempt to shed light on the BSOD minidumps but had to finally accept that I haven't the knowledge/expertise to really make much use/sense of the information given.

The two drivers flagged as causing the issue are atikmdag.sys and ntoskrnl.exe which, after scores of google searches, lead me to suspect the amd driver installed but since the very start I have upgraded twice now to new drivers released by amd using amd compatibility checker and amd driver downloader to no avail. I haven't downgraded though.

Then today I came across a thread suggesting catalyst control center is problematic and a solution was to uninstall all utilities but the actual graphics driver.

I think this might be worthwhile trying but then I guess my issue will be not being able to overscan to ensure my desktop covers the span of my screen; I understand this cannot be done through windows 7(?)

So would the following be a solution, would someone verify whether this is plausible on a windows 7 os, and finally if it might and it is windows 7 registry fix could someone explain the steps in laymans terms step-by-step.

“Go to the following key in the registry:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\video{####....}\0000
    Create a new DWORD:
    "DigitalHDTVDefaultUnderscan" = dword 0x0000
Note: there might be several {####....} , should be the one with most of the ATI settings."

Change Overscan/Underscan settings without Catalyst Control Center - Super User

I can provide minidump info if required.

    Thanks.

    Probably caused by : HDAudBus.sys ( HDAudBus!HdaController::NotificationDpc+168 )
    Followup: MachineOwner
Both dumps blame HDAudBus.sys which is an audio bus driver, have a look for some updated (or older) drivers for your sound card.

Thanks for your response. Just checked using device manager and by selecting windows to update the audio drivers the windows response is they are up-to-date(?)

AMD High Definition Audio Device - Driver Version 7.12.0.7719 (Date 20.06.2014)
    Intel(R) Display Audio - Driver Version 6.12.0.3047 (03.02.2010)
Realtek High Definition Audio - Driver Version 6.0.1.6043 (08.02.2010)

When viewing the minidump files using Windows Software Development Kit for Windows 8.1 - (x64) Debugger Version WinDbg:6.3.9600.17298 AMD64 I don't see HDAudBus.sys mentioned at all.

Both Blue Screen Viewer & Debugger identified ntoskrnl.exe

    Blue Screen Viewer identified
    atikmdag.sys

Although both atikmdag.sys and ntoskrnl.exe are pointed to time and again by Nirsoft's Blue Screen Viewer.

    Event Manager

    Last Critical Event:

The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly.

    - EventData

    BugcheckCode 10
    BugcheckParameter1 0x0
    BugcheckParameter2 0x2
    BugcheckParameter3 0x0
    BugcheckParameter4 0xfffff80001ed9325
    SleepInProgress false
    PowerButtonTimestamp 0

Any further help would be much appreciated. Thanks.
