Dell Vostro 3700 win7 pro x64 BSOD driver power state failure

This Vostro has random BSODs with the Driver power state failure noted in the top portion of the BSOD.

It is running the latest BIOS (A12) and has the latest drivers to the best of my knowledge.

See attached file.

Hi speedlever.

Do you use the webcam?

Can you disable the webcam and let us know if the BSOD is occurring anymore or not?

Thanks for the reply Arc. It BSODed 3 times in about 30 minutes this morning. The Action Center notified me of a missing driver for my memory card reader and I got that. But after multiple restarts, I still get the same message from the Action Center. Go figure.

This particular laptop has had a history of these types of BSOD.

It's run for the last 3+ hours without a hiccup.

I disabled the webcam, but right now, will not know if that fixes the problem or not unless it BSODs again... which would indicate that it did not.

Did you see something in the logs that made you suspect the webcam? Just curious.

Otherwise I would not have suggested it to you.

Let us know for any further BSOD.

It's been up for 24 hours and no more BSODs. Looks promising!

I may re-enable the webcam and see if that changes anything. But it's not used anyway, so no loss if it remains disabled... other than the fact that it should work without issue, that is.

No problem, you should test.

If you are confirmed that the issue is coming from the webcam, you should ask Dell Support for an appropriate driver update for that device.

Testing now. I sorta hope it fails so we can pin the issue on the webcam.
