BSOD at boot says "...not fully ACPI compliant" but worked before

From power cycle or push-button reboot, I now fall into Windows Error Recovery screen, with options to

    - Launch Startup Repair (recommended)
    - Start Windows Normally

The first one goes to BSOD declaring "The BIOS in this system is not fully ACPI compliant. Please contact your system vendor for an updated BIOS."

The second one attempts a boot and either hits BSOD or comes back to the Error Recovery screen.

The system has been running for almost three years, no new software installed, though there is the occasional Acrobat or Java update or whatever. System Vendor (Lenovo) does not list an update for the BIOS.

Ugh. I can't think of any solutions that aren't a few full days of dealing with formatting disks and rebuilding the OS. Help!

    I think you are facing a stop 0xA5, ACPI_BIOS_ERROR.

That is a problem relating to the BIOS, as a whole. But, depending on the parameters the generating cause may be different.

Can you post a camera snap of the blue screen so that we can see the parameters?

Also, boot into the BIOS, set it to default.

Finally, let us know which motherboard do you use.
