BSOD driver framework error, while using wired xbox 360 controller

Hey guys apologies if I'm supposed to make this on another users thread with the same issue, I just wasn't exactly sure if I make my own thread or not..

But the issue is, when playing selected steam games (most recently Borderlands 2) with a wired xbox 360 controller, I eventually get a BSOD stating something along the lines of "windows has detected an error with the driver framework" (I can post the exact wording if needed).

I've been researching the same issue on this site and online and have so far tried:
-checking windows system file integrity with sfc /scannow
-scanning for malware/viruses with Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and Bitdefender
-uninstalling and reinstalling the xbox driver/software (with a fresh copy from the microsoft site)
-performing registry/junk file cleaning using ashampoo winoptimizer
-installing/checking updates for system drivers for motherboard, etc..

Also attempted to install debugging tools for windows 7 to try find the driver in the dmp file that was having issues, but the tool-set wouldn't install and gave no reason (so gave up on that one)

And have not yet found a solution.

It also might be worth to note at times the xbox controller switches from user 1 to user 2 and can jump back (like when your on the console and using two controllers at once, the 2nd controller will have the light indicator in the right hand top corner of the xbox logo instead of the normal left hand top corner), which is strange though considering I don't have any other controller devices plugged in.

My computer knowledge is intermediate, so feel free to try me!

Attached is my system info (via the post guiding on this site) and also my latest .dmp file in a zip package in-case that's of any further assistance.

Many thanks for any help and please let me know if I can provide any other information.

    Thank you

    Hi kiwiboi90.

The BSOD was caused by Xbox 360 wireless controller.
    Code:
    BugCheck 10D, {5, 0, 1024, fffffa80109439a0}

*** WARNING: Unable to verify timestamp for xusb21.sys
*** ERROR: Module load completed but symbols could not be loaded for xusb21.sys
    Probably caused by : xusb21.sys ( xusb21+2888 )

    Followup: MachineOwner
    ---------
    The driver is old.
    Code:
        Image name: xusb21.sys
        Timestamp: Fri Aug 14 03:40:17 2009 (4A848F49)
But apparently it is the latest one.

I would suggest you to try one thing. Uninstall the installed driver for Xbox 360 controller. Then Download a fresh copy of it from Software Downloads: Xbox 360 Wireless Controller for Windows and install it.

See how it goes. Let us know.

    Fixed for now

Yeah tried that multiple times today, but found out even after running the uninstall routine..the driver (.sys) files were still left in the system 32 folder, as evident when I plugged the controller back in, it reinstalled them again....so after going into device manager I found out exactly which files were used by the controller.

So my temporary fix for now (in case anyone else needs to know) is manually deleting:
    -xusb21.sys
    -hidclass.sys
    -hidparse.sys
    -hidusb.sys

    (from C:\Windows\System32\drivers)

Then downloading a fresh copy of the xbox controller drivers and doing a reinstall...

I guess its solved for now, as the pc hasn't given me a BSOD since doing this...
(fingers crossed it doesn't happen again tonight)

    Thanks for the help Arc!
