Ok so we have a few options but first can you post the last three groups of number in the product key you bought? Please post that and don't continue with the instruction below until we review it. (***DO NOT POST THE FULL PRODUCT KEY, ONLY THE LAST 3 GROUPS***)

    Option 1

This is the recommended action and the one that would be most successful. We recommend a clean install. This will be a fresh start and erase all data from your HDD.

What I would do is create a new disc and download Windows 7 Professional and do a fresh install.

Make sure you backup any personal files that you have on your PC. The actions we will follow will erase all data and start fresh
(Only need to perform Part 1 on the tutorial below unless you want to go further -- WARNING -- PERFORMING THIS ACTION WILL ERASE YOUR HDD, BACKUP BEFORE FOLLOWING THIS TUTORIAL)
SSD / HDD : Optimize for Windows Reinstallation

Grab the correct ISO for your product key from My digital life. You need Windows 7 Professional 64bit (Needed for Option 2 as well ***)
    http://www.heidoc.net/joomla/technology-science/microsoft/14-windows-7-direct-download-links

Create an install disc with the ISO you downloaded in the previous step (Needed for Option 2 as well ***)
    Windows 7 USB/DVD Download Tool

Perform the clean install, the link below will help
    Clean Install Windows 7

After installing, update your Motherboard. I suggest downloading all updates (Important -- If you download any Gigabyte software or if any Gigabyte software is installed while installing drivers, remove the program. Gigabyte software is notoriously bad and causes BSODS sometimes)
    GIGABYTE - Motherboard - Socket 775 - GA-P35-DS4 (rev. 2.1)

    Also update your video card
    GeForce GTX 285 | GeForce

    Option 2

This is risky, since we have a counterfeit copy of Windows, the results are unpredictable.
Follow this post by Gregrocker exactly (This option required that you create an install disc. See above where the *** is in red.)
Downgrade from 7 Ultimate to 7 Professional

    Option 3

Windows 7 Downgrader tool. I've never used this, so this is at your discretion

Right... By now I have given away my key and bought windows 8 - so this is no longer a windows 7 problem. I haven't yet had a blue screen since the installation (two days ago) but I had the graphic bug that usually accompanied the BSOD - "NVIDIA Windows Kernel Mode Driver, Version 340,52" doesn't react any more". Is it possible that I need a new graphic card? The driver got un-installed before I put on the new windows - it didn't help under windows 7 and isn't gone under windows 8 either...

    Can anyone help maybe?

I had my first blue screen with windows 8.
This time again, I was writing a paper and browsing the web (three windows open in chrome and three different word documents).

Please find attached the dumb files (I hope I did it correctly) and let me know if I need to provide further data.
Even though my windows 7 was counterfeit, the problem appears to be the same - only less frequent. So maybe the data uploaded earlier might help tracking the problem.

Again, I'll be thankful for your help!

You already have the latest driver installed, so the only suggestion I have is to reinstall it, but following exactly the steps in this guide:

After doing the clean NVidia install suggested by Golden, make sure that your system is completely up-to-date.

Are you running Windows 8 or Windows 8.1 and has Windows Update applied all updates to the machine?

Also, please update your SF system specs, so that members immediately know from the specs that you're running win8.1

    Thanks.

    Hey Golden, hi Slarybart!

I have reinstalled the nvidia driver according to the tutorial. My system info is updated, too. I will give a shout as soon as I have trouble again. Just one question: Does any one of you think that I need to buy a new graphic card?

    Cheers,

See how it runs with a fully up-to-date system.
There are some other utilities that tell more about the HW.

So, I had two incidents again yesterday. No BSOD but the aforementioned graphics bug. It was again while writing a paper and surfing the net for research purposes. And again I lost data and had to rewrite parts of the paper.

These tutorials describe stressing hardware components, graphics card and memory.
Run only one at a time, and at a time when you don't need the machine.

Graphics: Graphics Card Problems - Diagnose

Wait until a member looks at the information from the graphics test before stressing your memory.
Memory: RAM - Test with Memtest86+

I unfortunately don't know enough about the utilities to take you any further with regards to the above stress tests.
Another member will have to analyze the results of the tests.
